Actress, singer-songwriter, and former Disney Channel child star Demi Lovato has been reflecting on her first year of marriage.
Lovato, 33, married fellow musician Jordan Lutes, 35, last year. Per People, the couple first went public with their relationship in August 2022. Lutes, whose stage name is Jutes, popped the question in a “personal and intimate proposal” in Los Angeles on December 16, 2023. They were married in a romantic ceremony in California on Sunday, May 25, 2025 (per Vogue).
Now, in a chat with People, Lovato has revealed what her biggest takeaway from a year of wedded bliss is.
Demi Lovato Believes Communication Is the Most Important Thing in a Marriage
Demi Lovato chatted to People about her first year of marriage while attending the premiere of “Camp Rock 3” at the Walt Disney Studio lot in Burbank, California, on Monday, August 10.
Lovato plays Mitchie Torres in the Disney Channel film, reprising her role from 2008’s “Camp Rock” and 2010’s “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.” She is also acting as executive producer on the movie alongside the Jonas Brothers.
Speaking about her recent one-year anniversary, she told People that “communication” was the “biggest and the most important thing in a relationship.”
Lovato went on, saying, “When you’re able to communicate with each other what you need, what you want, it creates a safe space for the two of you to share your feelings with one another.”
She concluded, “My love for Jordan grows every single day, and I’ve never been so happy in my life. So I think communication is a big part of that.”
Lovato Marked Her One-Year Anniversary on Social Media
On May 25 this year, Demi Lovato marked her one-year wedding anniversary. She posted a tribute to husband Jordan Lutes on her Instagram account, sharing it with her 147 million followers.
The post included a carousel of 20 photographs of Lovato with her husband. Some of the images are from their wedding day.
She captioned her post, “1 year married to the one i love the most, my best friend and my favorite human @jutesmusic 365 days ago i stood across from u reciting my vows, thinking it wasn’t possible to love u anymore than i already do, but here we r a year later, and somehow i love u even more than that. this has been the best year of my life. it’s the snuggles in the mornings, random slow dances, leaving parties early to go get taco bell together, nights staying up way too late laughing our asses off til we cry, doing goofy shit trying to out-weird each other that made this year so special for me. these r memories i cherish and cannot wait to make more of. i love u so much.. happy anniversary baby!! 💞💞💞”
“Camp Rock 3” hits the Disney Channel on Thursday, August 13. It will begin streaming the following day, Friday, August 14, on Disney+.
Per IMDb, the plot of the movie is as follows: “At Camp Rock, the Connect 3 are looking for a new opening act for their tour. Among campers like Sage, Desi, Rosie, and others, the competition to win the coveted spot sparks rivalries and romances as everyone fights to stand out.”
It will be the first time Lovato has acted since her role in the 2025 drama movie “Nova.”
