David Harbour Promises ‘Wild’ New Netflix Series with Millie Bobby Brown ‘Will Surprise You’

Over the course of five seasons, “Stranger Things” has become a Netflix phenomenon.

The streamer recently announced plans to get the band together — or at least two members of the cast, with Millie Bobby Brown set to team up with David Harbour for an upcoming series.

Unlike “Stranger Things,” the pair’s new show has nothing to do with the supernatural, but is set within the world of espionage. The two will play an estranged father and daughter, both of whom are FBI agents.

Fans Loved Their Relationship

While details about the upcoming show have been sparse, Harbour opened up about what fans can expect during a recent interview with Deadline.

According to Harbour, one element of the new show that will carry through from “Stranger Things” will be the father-daughter dynamics in their characters’ relationship.

“One of the most beautiful things about [‘Stranger Things’] was people love that show and they loved Hopper and Eleven. They loved that relationship,” Harbour explains.

“I think the guys did a terrific job on Season 5, but I just don’t think you could pay off that relationship in the way that people wanted it to pay off. I just don’t think there’s a way,” he observed.

Reviving the Chemistry

The goal with the new series, he explained, was to build on the relationship that fans have already embraced.

“And so Millie and I, I think we wanted to bring you something with the chemistry of these two, of me and her, that will surprise you and that will be rich, and have that deep emotion, but also be just wild,” Harbour teased.

“So I’m really excited to be back with her. I love working with her,” he added, also sharing his excitement at working with series creator Jack Thorne, the driving force behind Netflix’s award-winning “Adolescence” and the streamer’s recent adaptation of “Lord of the Flies.”

“It has a lot of stuff to say about this modern contemporary world we’re living in as well that I’m really excited to keep doing,” Harbour said.

Espionage Thriller

While the series has yet to receive a title, it does have a synopsis.

“In the series, disgraced FBI agent turned security expert Matt Wolfe (Harbour) is drawn back into the world he left behind when his estranged daughter, Rebecca (Brown) — now an FBI agent determined to follow in his footsteps — vanishes on a mission, forcing him to return to a field that has evolved beyond him,” notes Tudum.

“We are delighted to bring this spy drama to life with an extraordinary group of talent we’ve been fortunate to collaborate with before,” said Jinny Howe, Netflix head of scripted series for U.S. and Canada.

“Jack Thorne’s ability to find the deeply human story inside a thriller is unmatched, and watching Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour reunite — this time as estranged father and daughter on opposite sides of a crisis — is something audiences are going to love,” Howe added.

In addition to starring in the series, both Brown and Harbour will be executive producers on the project.

Also serving as exec producer will be Brown’s husband, Jake Bongiovi, who’ll be joining a production team that also includes Robert Brown, Joe Hipps and Patrick McDonald.
