The news of Armani’s death was shared on September 4, 2025, in a loving Instagram post by the Armani Group. “Milan, 4 September 2025 – With infinite sorrow, the Armani Group announces the passing of its creator, founder, and tireless driving force: Giorgio Armani,” the statement reads. He was 91.
The statement continues, “Il Signor Armani, as he was always respectfully and admiringly called by employees and collaborators, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones. Indefatigable to the end, he worked until his final days, dedicating himself to the company, the collections, and the many ongoing and future projects.”
The statement reflected on the designer’s brilliance and his contributions to the fashion industry. These thoughts have been echoed by the outpouring of love that has followed since his death was announced.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson Shares His Deep Sadness
Among those who paid tribute to Armani was “The Fall Guy” actor. Taylor-Johnson posted several photos of himself and Armani on Instagram on September 4. The first picture shows Taylor-Johnson lovingly holding Armani’s hand. Other images show them posing for the camera and chatting with each other.
In the caption, Taylor-Johnson shared his thoughts, “I am so saddened by the heartbreaking news of Giorgio Armani’s passing. His contribution to fashion, art, and culture was unparalleled,” he wrote.
Taylor-Johnson continued, “I am mourning the loss of both an extraordinary titan of fashion and a beloved personal friend. I also express my sincere condolences to Roberta, Pantaleo, Silvana, and his devoted extended family, who represented the brand with such honour and integrity. May his legacy stand the test of time.”

Taylor-Johnson is the Giorgio Armani Global Fragrance Ambassador and has starred in campaigns for ACQUA DI GIÒ ELIXIR. He discussed his collaboration with the brand in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in January 2024. For the campaign, Taylor-Johnson did “a swan dive off into the 16-foot cliff into the ocean.”
Speaking of the campaign, the actor said, “It was very much inspired by the place where Giorgio Armani [owns a home] in Pantalleria, which is an island off of Sicily and the Aeolian on that way in the Mediterranean Sea. So you’ll see it sort of captures very much that.”
