Anthony Anderson is stepping into a new chapter, and he is no longer dodging questions about it. The actor and comedian has confirmed he is dating again, marking his first public romance since finalizing his divorce in 2023. The reveal came through a mix of red carpet candor, daytime TV pressure and recent public appearances that have fueled speculation about his connection to TV host and radio personality Rocsi Diaz.
After years of keeping his personal life private, Anderson’s recent comments signal a clear shift as he acknowledges that he has moved on and is no longer single.
A ‘View’ Moment That Put Him on the Spot
Anderson found himself squirming during a Jan. 23 appearance on “The View,” where the cohosts wasted no time pressing him about his love life. Per TV Insider, the conversation quickly turned personal after the hosts brought up reports that Anderson had been spotted with Diaz at Netflix’s Golden Globes afterparty earlier this month.
At first, Anderson leaned into humor, deflecting with jokes and playful discomfort as the questions kept coming. Sunny Hostin, in particular, pushed for clarity, prompting Anderson to eventually offer a carefully worded response. He explained that he and Diaz have been friends for more than 20 years and suggested that their long history is what makes their connection meaningful.
Laughing, Anderson referred to Diaz as his “lady friend,” while making it clear he was not interested in oversharing on live television. “That is my lady friend,” he said, joking that he was not about to get himself in trouble once he left the show. While he stopped short of labeling the relationship outright, the comment marked one of his most direct acknowledgments yet.
‘I’m No Longer a Bachelor’

Just days earlier, Anderson had already confirmed his relationship status on his own terms. At the premiere for Netflix’s “Star Search” on Jan. 21, the 55-year-old actor shut down any talk of being an eligible bachelor. “I’m no longer a bachelor,” he told the outlet, adding that his girlfriend attended the live show with him and that they enjoyed the night together, according to People.
The confirmation comes more than two years after Anderson finalized his divorce from ex-wife Alvina Stewart in late 2023. The former couple, who share two children, Kyra and Nathan, married in 1999 after meeting in college and experienced a long, complicated relationship that included a brief reconciliation before ultimately parting ways.
Earlier this month, TMZ reported that Anderson and Diaz fueled dating rumors when they were photographed leaving Netflix’s Golden Globes afterparty together in Beverly Hills. According to TMZ, the pair walked hand in hand outside Wolfgang Puck’s Spago, and when asked if they were dating, Anderson described Diaz as “my date for the evening.” He also noted that they have known each other for nearly two decades, dating back to his guest appearances on “106 & Park” during Diaz’s time as a host.
While Anderson has not gone into further detail or formally introduced Diaz as his girlfriend, his recent comments make one thing clear. As he put it himself, he is no longer a bachelor.
