Aubrey Plaza is officially a mom!
The actress and her partner, Christopher Abbott, have welcomed their first child together, with Plaza recently spotted holding their newborn in New York City.
Plaza was seen carrying the baby on Sunday after attending a performance of “Death of a Salesman,” which marked Abbott’s final performance.
The first-time mom kept things casual and stylish in a high ponytail and black sunglasses while holding the baby, who was bundled in a blanket and wearing a beanie.
It’s Reportedly a Girl
Sources with direct knowledge told TMZ that Plaza welcomed a baby girl during the last week of July, making the couple a family of three.
The arrival comes several months after Plaza first opened up about becoming a mother.
During an April episode of the “SmartLess” podcast, the actress confirmed her pregnancy while joking with hosts Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes.
“Well, there’s a baby inside of me,” Plaza quipped before discussing her doctor’s appointment that day.
She even compared her own appointment to a visit her dog had with the veterinarian.
“Both of us — my dog’s getting a scan right now. I got a scan earlier. I’m not kidding. She had to get an ultrasound on her stomach,” the Dirty Grandpa star said. “And then I got an ultrasound on my stomach, and there is a baby in there.”
Plaza also admitted that she was excited to experience motherhood for herself.
“I’ve always wanted to see what that’s all about,” she said. “It just seems so interesting, that whole thing.”
Plaza Has Joked Throughout Her Pregnancy
She later appeared on “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” and joked that she might need help on delivery day.
She told the host, “May need you to pull it out,” leaving Meyers visibly surprised.
In response, Meyers asked, “What’s that? Do you want me to pull it out?”
“That’s why I came here tonight,” Plaza joked.
Meyers quickly responded, “Oh, I would rather not do that.”
“It’s either you or Henry Winkler,” Plaza replied, referring to her former Parks and Recreation costar.
“Those are my top two,” she added.
Meyers then admitted that he would choose Winkler, who is 80.
“I would choose Henry. Wouldn’t you?” Meyers asked.
“Well, he delivered my baby on Parks and Recreation, so that’s all I know,” Plaza said.
Meyers pointed out that Winkler essentially had “a dress rehearsal” when he delivered a baby on the sitcom, calling it “very rare to get a dress rehearsal with someone.”
Now, Plaza and Abbott have officially entered a new chapter together as parents.
While Plaza has kept much of her personal life private, her recent comments showed that she was approaching motherhood with both excitement and humor.
Her first public appearance with the newborn now gives fans a sweet glimpse at the actress in her new role as a mom.
