Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are making a dream come true for many film-lovers! News is buzzing around the fact that the two stars are reuniting for a brand new “Mummy” movie.
“Previously, Fraser and Weisz starred in two Mummy movies together: 1999’s The Mummy and 2001’s The Mummy Returns, both based on one of Universal’s original movie monsters of the early 20th century, both directed by Stephen Sommers, and both grossing over $400 million worldwide,” Deadline notes. Brendan also returned for 2008’s “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.”
Beyond that, Deadline explains that “[t]he 1999 film introduced Fraser as Rick O’Connell, a roguish American adventurer and former French Foreign Legion soldier, and Weisz as Evelyn Carnahan, an English Egyptologist working at the Cairo Museum of Antiquities.”
As for the new flick, “[o]ne source describes the project as not a reboot, but rather a sequel that would disregard the events of the third movie,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“Universal attempted to resurrect ‘The Mummy’ with Tom Cruise in 2017, but to no avail,” Variety explains. “The film was a commercial misfire and failed to kick off the studio’s so-called ‘Dark Universe,’ which was intended to utilize Universal’s catalogue of classic monsters for a series of interconnected adventures.”
