Beloved Bruce Willis Seen in Rare Public Appearance Outside Church Amid Dementia Battle: VIDEO

Bruce Willis has been spotted in a rare public appearance as the actor continues living with frontotemporal dementia.

The 71-year-old “Die Hard” star was seen in Glendale, California, on Wednesday, Aug. 5 after spending time inside a church at Forest Lawn, according to the Daily Express US.

In a brief video circulating online, Willis waited outside with two assistants before leaving the property.

Willis Was Waiting to Get in the Car

The footage showed the actor sharing a short conversation with one of his helpers before she assisted him into a waiting vehicle.

The outing marked another uncommon public sighting for Willis, who has largely remained out of the spotlight since retiring from acting following his diagnosis.

His appearance comes as his wife, Emma Heming Willis, continues to speak candidly about their family’s experience navigating his illness.

During the Aug. 5 episode of Hoda Kotb’s “Making Space” podcast, Heming Willis reflected on celebrating her milestone 50th birthday while balancing the emotional realities of caregiving.

She admitted that reaching the milestone was more complicated than she expected.

“I was unsure if I really wanted to do anything,” Heming Willis shared. “But I had a friend of mine who kept sort of pushing and saying, ‘You know what? You don’t wanna miss out on your 50th. You have to celebrate in some form or fashion.’”

After taking time to think it over, she decided to mark the occasion.

“I really sat with that, and I thought about it. And I thought, ‘You know what? I don’t wanna look back and think, why didn’t I celebrate 50?’”

The celebration ultimately included close friends, tacos and a margarita, though she acknowledged that fully enjoying the day wasn’t easy.

“I always wrestle with it, you know?” she said. “I think guilt is something that I am always carrying, but I’ve learned that it is really not helpful. What I know is I always go back to what would my husband want for me?”

Heming Willis Provides Frequent Updates on Her Husband

Earlier this year, Heming Willis also opened up about Bruce’s condition during an appearance on the “Conversations with Cam” podcast.

She revealed that her husband does not fully understand his diagnosis.

“Bruce never connected the dots. He never realized he had this disease,” she said. “It is both a blessing and a curse.”

She added, “But I’m really glad he doesn’t know.”

Willis first stepped away from acting in 2022 after his family announced he had been diagnosed with aphasia, a condition that affects language and communication.

In 2023, his loved ones shared that further medical evaluations had led to a diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia, a progressive neurological disease that impacts behavior, communication and cognitive abilities.

Since then, Heming Willis, along with Willis’ daughters and former wife Demi Moore, have continued to provide occasional updates while raising awareness about frontotemporal dementia and supporting others facing similar journeys.

Although public appearances have become increasingly rare, Willis continues to be surrounded by the support of his blended family, who have remained united throughout his health journey.
