New information is emerging about the fatal highway incident involving Buckcherry’s tour bus.
The band’s bus was involved in a five-vehicle collision on Interstate 26 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, at approximately 2 a.m. on August 21.
Initial reports described the incident as one fatal multi-vehicle crash. However, the South Carolina Highway Patrol has now clarified that three separate accidents unfolded one after another.
The person who died was not traveling with Buckcherry. All members of the band and its touring crew were safe and unharmed.
The Incident Began With a Single-Vehicle Crash

Investigators have not determined what caused the initial accident.
The driver reportedly exited his vehicle after the crash. Moments later, another motorist struck him while he was on the highway.
The man was killed in the second collision. His identity has not been publicly released.
Police said the motorist who struck him was not arrested. The circumstances surrounding that collision remain under investigation.
Buckcherry’s Tour Bus Was Involved in a Third Crash

Police described the third collision as a five-vehicle crash. Several people reportedly sustained minor injuries, but no one was transported to a hospital.
The new information clarifies that Buckcherry’s bus was not involved in the first accident or the collision that killed the driver. The bus became involved in a separate crash that followed those incidents.
The cause of the five-vehicle collision also remains under investigation.
All eastbound lanes of Interstate 26 were closed for several hours while authorities investigated and cleared the scene.
Buckcherry Confirmed the Band and Crew Were Unharmed
Buckcherry addressed the accident in a statement shared on social media.
“We are extremely grateful to report that all members of Buckcherry and our touring crew are safe and unharmed,” the band said.
The group also offered its condolences to the family and loved ones of the person who died.
Buckcherry consists of lead singer Josh Todd, guitarists Stevie Dacanay and Billy Rowe, bassist Kelly LeMieux and drummer Francis Ruiz.
The band was traveling from a performance at the Orange Peel in Asheville, North Carolina, as part of its national “Roar Like Thunder Tour.” The tour supports Buckcherry’s 2025 studio album of the same name.
Buckcherry Continued Its Tour After the Crash
Despite the highway accident, Buckcherry’s scheduled performance at the Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, went ahead as planned.
No other changes were made to the group’s tour schedule.
The investigations into all three accidents remain ongoing, and authorities have not announced what caused the first or third collision.
