Garry Marshall’s “Pretty Woman” remains one of the foremost romantic comedy-dramas ever made.
With a title inspired by Roy Orbison’s 1964 song “Oh, Pretty Woman,” the movie follows a Hollywood escort named Vivian Ward and a wealthy corporate raider called Edward Lewis. Edward hires Vivian for a week to be his escort for several business and social functions in and around Beverly Hills, during which time their relationship develops into something far more serious and wholesome.
It stars Julia Roberts as Vivian and Richard Gere as Edward, with a talented cast of supporting actors.
