The ocean is an incredible place, and Chris Hemsworth’s wife, Elsa Pataky, got to experience this on a recent whale-spotting trip. The actress posted a short clip of herself on Instagram on August 16. It shows her on a boat while a humpback whale surfaces and breaches.
Pataky looked extremely happy and excited, and she shared her thoughts in the post’s caption.
Elsa Pataky Shares Humpback Whale Encounter
“And there we were, lucky enough to witness it- this magnificent creatures wild, free and playing in the ocean!,” she wrote. “Thanks @lukemun and my girls.” Pataky will likely remember the magical experience for years to come, and fans were grateful she shared it online for them to see.
Actress Natalie Portman reacted with four heart-eye emojis. Other reactions include, “They are so incredible. Got some cool aerial shots of them,” “Oh wow! Incredible,” and “Seeing humpbacks this close in the wild must feel completely unreal. There’s something so humbling about watching animals that huge move with such grace and freedom.”
Elsa Pataky & Chris Hemsworth’s Love for the Ocean
Pataky and Hemsworth love the ocean, and they are passionate about its conservation, including supporting marine conservation with Oceana. “I spend large amounts of time by the sea, a place that is linked to some of the fondest moments of my life,” Pataky said in an Oceana press release. “The sea is always there for us – providing food, energy, and cleaner air. But what do we do for it in return? Do we prevent it from getting polluted? Do we use its resources sustainably, so that generations to come can also benefit from healthy species and ecosystems? My answer is no: we don’t do enough to save the ocean.”
She also shared the importance of protecting the ocean and the marine environment. “We don’t think enough of how much we take from the oceans, and how little we give in return. We should all be working to ensure that they can continue to be our planet’s warehouse,” she said. “I have no doubt that the most important heritage we can give to our children is a healthy planet, with rich oceans, full of life, so they can also enjoy the most valuable wealth we possess. This is our legacy, and it’s our responsibility to preserve it and take care of it.”
The star has been working with Oceana since 2012.
Pataky occasionally gives fans a glimpse into her life on Instagram, with many photos showing herself and her family enjoying beach activities or time at or on the ocean. Hemsworth is passionate about surfing, and he even wanted the waves to dictate their wedding day.
In an appearance on the “Talking in Common” podcast, Pataky reflected on their wedding planning. “And Chris was like, ‘Yeah, sure but if it’s good surf we just postpone it.’ And I was like ‘sure,'” she said, Hola! reports. “That was the first time when I was like, ‘Okay, I guess surf is the first thing.'” The couple married on December 26, 2010, and almost 16 years later they appear to be incredibly happy.
