“American Pie” star Jason Biggs and Jenny Mollen are going their separate ways. The couple, who built a life together over nearly two decades, have officially separated, a representative confirmed to People on Thursday, May 14.
GettyDespite their separation, both have made it clear that their relationship remains amicable and centered on their family. Biggs, 48, and Mollen, 46, are parents to two sons, Sid, 12, and Lazlo, 8, and continue to approach co-parenting with warmth and mutual respect, per the report.
They Spent His Birthday Together Days Before the News Broke
GettyThe confirmation came just days after the former couple celebrated Biggs’ 48th birthday as a family on Tuesday, May 12, a detail that speaks to the nature of this separation.
“They are doing great,” a source told People.
The source added that the two remain deeply committed to one another as parents, even as their marriage comes to a close.
“They are very much connected. I have no doubt that they will remain on excellent terms.”
From a Movie Set to an Elopement to 18 Years of Marriage
Biggs and Mollen’s story began on the set of the 2008 film “My Best Friend’s Girl,” where the two met and quickly fell for each other.
In November 2007, Biggs confirmed that he proposed to Mollen, according to OK magazine. The couple later tied the knot in an intimate Los Angeles ceremony that even featured a breakfast bar for guests.
That summer, they celebrated again with a more formal gathering, exchanging vows a second time at an intimate ceremony in Napa, Calif., with roughly 40 guests present.
Over the years, the couple kept their personal life largely out of the spotlight.
Mollen shared what would become one of their last public photos together on Instagram in November 2025, captioning the image with a playful note: “A totally approachable couple not trying to seduce you.”
GettyWhen Biggs turned 47 in May 2025, Mollen marked the occasion with a black-and-white photo of the two of them and a joke about an early surprise party mishap.
“We were married and yet I still knew practically nothing about you. Like for example, the fact that you hate surprises. Luckily, we made it past that hurdle,” she wrote.

In April 2025, the couple celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary. Mollen posted a series of clips showing Biggs being playful and present with their children.
“17 years of this. Happy Anniversary @biggsjason,” she wrote at the time.
Biggs rose to fame as Jim Levenstein in the “American Pie” franchise. Most recently, he appeared as himself in the Prime Video comedy “Operation Taco Gary’s” after making his directorial debut last year with “Untitled Home Invasion Romance”.
Mollen has appeared in projects including “Girls”, “Chicago Fire”, “Wilfred” and the film “Crazy, Stupid, Love..”.
Beyond acting, she is also a bestselling author, with Live Fast Die Hot and I Like You Just the Way I Am both earning spots on The New York Times bestseller list.
The couple also shared the screen space in the 2026 comedy film “Influenced”.
Mollen also hosted the podcast “All the Fails with Jenny Mollen,” with Biggs appearing as a recurring guest from March 2024 through January 2025.
Neither Jason Biggs nor Jenny Mollen has publicly confirmed their separation.
People was the first outlet to report the split.
