John Travolta just turned 72 years old and celebrated his birthday in a way that was both highly unusual and incredibly impressive.
Taking to Instagram, the actor shared a video of a large jet cruising down a runway before taking off. The video also saw the star standing beside the plane while it was parked.
In the caption of this post, Travolta wrote, “It’s my birthday today! And I’m very proud to say I got my license in the Global Express! Thank you for all my birthday wishes!”
It seems like the star is referring to a license for what Bombardier Defense describes as their “renowned long-range, large-cabin Global aircraft family,” which is definitely noteworty.

John Travolta Is Likely the ‘Most Experienced Pilot’ Among Hollywood Stars
“As it happens, Travolta is likely the most experienced pilot to rank among Hollywood’s top stars,” according to Business Jet Traveler. “In his downtime, he’s become highly accomplished in the cockpit, earning more than a dozen type ratings in aircraft ranging from the Dassault Falcon 900B to the iconic Lockheed Super Constellation.”
When asked what he loves about flying by Global’s The Morning Show, the star replied, “What don’t I love is an easier question to answer. I love the feeling I have when I do it, I love the perspective I get on life, I love the sensation of flight, I love the distance it attains for you in a quick period of time.”
Beyond that, he told Business Jet Traveler, “I just did a little movie called ‘Propeller One-Way Night Coach’ based on a novella I wrote 30 years ago. If you want to know who I am, just listen to the audio or read the book. You’ll see why I’m who I am about flying…”
