“Game of Thrones” star and British actor Kit Harington has revealed that he still hasn’t seen the eighth and final season of the show. The HBO hit ran from 2011 to 2019 and was one of the biggest series on television during that time but had what many consider to be a disappointing conclusion.
Now, Harington has confirmed in an interview that he hasn’t gone back to watch the final batch of episodes.
Kit Harington Explains Why He Hasn’t Seen the ‘Game of Thrones’ Ending
Throughout the entire run of “Game of Thrones,” Kit Harington was an ever-present figure playing the lead character of Jon Snow. Yet, despite the show being such a large part of his life, the actor has admitted that he didn’t watch the final season when it aired on television and has never gone back to catch up.
Speaking in an interview with Mr Porter, Harington explained that there are a number of reasons why he missed out on watching the conclusion to the television adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s fantasy novel series.
The primary reason according to the actor is that his mental health was not in a good place at the time and he simply wasn’t able to watch every episode when it came out as he sought treatment.
“Yes, I still haven’t watched the final season,” Harington explained. “I have really odd feelings about it because I wasn’t very well.”
He continued, “I was in rehab when the final episode aired, so I missed it and then I came out of rehab and had other things on my mind. And then I actually think I look rather unwell in that final season. I’m not well. I’m struggling with alcohol at that point. But I’m quite proud of the work I was doing.”
‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ Is the Latest ‘Game of Thrones’ Spin-Off
Although the final season of “Game of Thrones” was not a huge success, it hasn’t put off fans from engaging in other content set in Westeros. HBO is working on a number of spin-offs and has already released two seasons of “House of the Dragon.”
The latest instalment in the franchise is “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” another prequel that is based on a series of novellas written by George R.R. Martin. In this series, viewers follow the hedge knight Sir Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg as they adventure around Westeros.
The series is currently airing weekly on HBO and HBO Max on Sunday nights, with the first season including a total of six episodes.
