Meryl Streep and Martin Short are continuing to maintain a close relationship as Streep focuses on promoting “The Devil Wears Prada 2.”
According to a source who spoke to In Touch, the pair remains committed to each other despite spending time apart due to Streep’s busy schedule ahead of the film’s release.

The source described Streep and Short’s relationship as strong, even if they do not define it in traditional terms.
“Meryl and Martin have a complex dynamic because they do not refer to each other as ‘boyfriend’ and ‘girlfriend’ per se,” the source said. “They have an incredibly close, intense relationship and will probably spend the rest of their lives together in some way or another.”
Short has continued to focus on his career during this time. “He still loves his show business career and he’s constantly pushing that forward, even amid the extreme grief over his daughter’s death,” the source added.

Streep has taken an active role in promoting the upcoming film, even with high-profile co-stars also participating in press appearances.
“Nobody is forcing Meryl to do all this promotion for ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2,’” the source said. “She has famous costars like Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt who are happy to go do interviews and talk shows. But Meryl is doing it because she loves the project and because she hasn’t had a big movie in cinemas in years.”
Short has supported her decision to prioritize the project. “Martin is an intelligent, undemanding person and Meryl is putting herself out there with his blessing and support,” the source explained.
The source added that the couple plans to spend time together after the film’s release. “When the movie is released in May and it’s a hit, then Meryl and Martin can retreat to one of their homes and be together to savor the success.”
