Nouri said on the “Still Here Hollywood” podcast that he got a communication from his agents that acclaimed director Sam Peckinpah, known for his 1969 Oscar-nominated Western “The Wild Bunch,” wanted to meet with him for a movie he was doing called “The Osterman Weekend.” He went on, “I had to fly myself out here to Los Angeles to meet him. And, a great guy. He said ‘You don’t have to do anything. I can tell just by meeting you that I would love you to be in my movie.”

That afternoon, I got a script called ‘Flashdance.'” He said he was asked to “please read this tonight” and invited to a meeting at Paramount Studios for the coming Friday. He said, “I read it, and I liked it more than ‘The Osterman Weekend.'”

The 80-year-old acknowledged, “This was an enviable position to be in,” before explaining he went to audition that Friday afternoon for “Flashdance” director Adrian Lyne.
