A former “Today” colleague of Savannah Guthrie’s, Billy Bush, shared a powerful, heartfelt message on social media amid the Guthrie family’s heartbreak.
Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, has been missing for over a week, and Billy Bush said what many across the nation are thinking.
Billy Bush Is Hopeful Nancy Guthrie Can Return Home Safe
On February 7, Bush shared a video on his Instagram page that contained his thoughts on the Guthrie kidnapping. He noted that the situation is “so sad” and “unimaginable.”
Bush reviewed the most recent video shared by Savannah Guthrie on Instagram, in which the family pleaded for the return of their mother as a ransom demand hangs overhead. He noted that the family “will pay, of course, while the FBI tries to figure out from where this digital footprint originates.”
He continued, “Then, I hope these people, person, whoever they are, meet the ultimate consequences.”
Echoing the wording of the video shared by the Guthrie family, Bush noted that he hopes everybody gets to celebrate with Nancy Guthrie upon her safe return to her family. “You’re America’s grandmother now,” he said.
In the caption of his Instagram post, Bush wrote, “We’re all gutted. The latest jarring example of pure evil existing in the world.”
Bush continued, “But let’s remain hopeful and pray for Nancy Guthrie’s safe return.”
“Nancy is America’s grandmother now and though I’ve never met her, I love her,” he added.
The ‘Today’ Veteran’s Comments Resonated With Fans
The comment section of Bush’s post was filled with comments from followers who agreed with his sentiments.
One person wrote, “America’s Grandmother we are all praying for you carrying hope in our hearts.”
Another person acknowledged, “This even has gripped us all, because we all have Moms and Grandmas. Prayers for Nancy and her family.”
Someone else commented to suggest that Nancy Guthrie is “Canada’s Grandmother also.”
Jenna Bush Hager, a close friend and colleague of Savannah Guthrie’s, liked Bush’s post to show her appreciation for it.
The former “Today” correspondent also shared his message on Facebook, where followers shared similar sentiments.
“Mrs. Guthrie has become everyone’s mom and grandma. Please return her home safely. Her children love her so much,” one Facebook user wrote.
“‘America’s grandmother.’ Very fitting. God, please have mercy on her and send her home to her family…Mrs. [Guthrie], we are all praying for you,” another person on Facebook shared.
