Nancy Guthrie Update: FBI Provides Fresh Details on Case

As the search for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie enters into its third week after she was shockingly abducted from her home near Tucson, Arizona, the investigators leading the charge to find her have provided an update about where the case currently stands and what they are now doing.

Nancy, who is the mother of “Today” host Savannah Guthrie, was taken from her residence in the early hours of February 1, with the sheriff’s department believing the abduction marks the start as a kidnapping

Searches continue for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of U.S. journalist and television host Savannah Guthrie, after she went missing from her home on the morning of February 1st.

Speaking to NBC News, a spokesperson for the FBI said that the agency is continuing to exhaust every avenue as it continues to try and find Nancy and bring the kidnapper to justice.

As part of the effort to make a breakthrough in the case, agents are performing analysis of cell phone data, examining video, and conducting interviews. Work also continues on attempts to recover more video footage from surveillance equipment installed at the home.

The FBI is also continually rotating new agents onto the case. According to the spokesperson, this is in an effort to ensure that “fresh eyes” can review evidence without bias and provide different perspectives that may prove useful.

Police Say That Kidnapper May Have Had An Accomplice

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, who is leading the investigation into Nancy’s disappearance, has also recently confirmed that investigators are not discounting the possibility that the kidnapper may have been working with an accomplice.

In a statement released to PEOPLE on Thursday, a County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson  explained that investigators could not confirm the suspect was working alone.

“The sheriff has said all along that while investigators are working to identify the person seen on the doorbell video, they are not ruling out that that was the only person involved,” the spokesperson said.

A second spokesperson confirmed the news with Fox News, explaining that the idea is being pursued.

They said, “…a spokesperson for the Pima Country Sheriff’s Department said investigators are looking into the possibility that the person may have had an accomplice.”

  1. Have you tried a psychic? A serious one might be able to help locate Nancy. Finding one to examine the home and bedroom where Nancy was taken might lead to an answer. Anything would be better than what has been recovered so far by the sheriff’s dept. and the FBI.
