Nancy Guthrie’s Pastor Prays for Her in Moving Church Service After 8 Days Missing: VIDEO

After eight days of Nancy Guthrie missing following the report of her disappearance on Sunday, Feb. 1, the beloved 84-year-old’s church in Tucson, Arizona, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, prayed for her comfort and safe return during their service on Feb. 8.

Pastor John Title stood behind the church podium and delivered the moving prayer for Nancy, mother of “TODAY” co-host Savannah Guthrie, whom he asked for guidance in finding peace and truth in the devastating case of her disappearance.

Pastor Title’s Prayer for Nancy Guthrie

NBC News correspondent Liz Kreutz reposted a video of Pastor Title’s prayer on Instagram. Here is his supplication, word for word:

“We pray for protection over Nancy right now in this moment — body, mind and soul. Oh God, send your angels to surround her and minister to her. And Lord, may she sense deep in her soul our prayers and our love right now and prayers from this nation and all around the world,” Pastor Title said. “And we pray that the peace that passeth all understanding would guard the hearts and the minds of Nancy and her family. Calm them in this storm. Lord God, bless and guide the authorities in their search for Nancy. Give them wisdom along every step of the path to her. Lord, we ask that you would soften hearts of those who are responsible that they might come forward and do what is humane and what is right. And we pray, God, for mercy and grace to prevail. And we pray all this in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, who is our crucified and risen Lord. Amen.”

The church’s director of communications, Amy Grover, shared that Nancy has been a dedicated member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church for 30 years, NBC News reported.

Detectives Search Septic Tank in Nancy Guthrie’s Backyard

Nancy was reported missing by a family member last week after her loved ones were made aware of her not attending her church service that Sunday. The night before, however, she was alert and well, as she joined her daughter Annie Guthrie and her husband, Tommaso Cioni, at their home for dinner and board games, the NYP reported. Annie and Tommaso were the last people to see Nancy before she disappeared.

The investigation for Nancy’s disappearance took a drastic turn when authorities launched a search in the septic tank located in her backyard on Feb. 8, the NYP reported. Drone footage showed detectives from the Pima County Sheriff Department as they opened the manhole.

On the same day, the X account for the Pima County Sheriff’s Office reiterated in a statement that authorities still do not have a prime suspect. They said they’d hold a press conference if any significant developments in the case arise.
