As the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance continues, law enforcement such as the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI are not providing as much information as many members of the public might like. That has opened the door to a flurry of experts providing their own input to try and fill in the gaps that have been left open.
The 84-year-old mother of broadcaster Savannah Guthrie was seemingly forcibly taken from her home in Tucson, Arizona at the beginning of February and there has been little in the way of breakthroughs since then. In the case, which is being treated as a kidnapping, officers are still to locate or identify the main suspect but one expert has suggested the likely way in which they will be caught.
Former FBI Agent & Law Enforcement Expert Explains How Police Will Learn His Identity
GettyIn an interview with Newsweek, retired FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer detailed the method in which the suspect in the investigation will likely be discovered.
“I think the number one way this case is going to be solved, in my opinion, is somebody coming forward that knows him,” Coffindaffer said. “You know, a girlfriend that gets angry at him or a family member that finds some sort of moral compass or wants that $1.2 million and finds that is worth it to go ahead and betray their loved one.”
She went on to say that while DNA evidence might be useful, it could take a long time to cross reference and verify. In her opinion, this makes it “a lesser possibility than somebody coming forward and recognizing him.”
In contrast, Coffindaffer explained that there is enough identifying information in the surveillance video of the suspect for someone to recognize him and inform the authorities.
“You have the ring, you had the tattoo, you have the clothing, you have the eyebrows, you have the mustache, somebody knows who he is,” she said. “That’s their best lead, it really is. Somebody is going to come forward. It’s just how long is that going to take.”
Law Enforcement Officials Confirm Discovered Body is Not Connected to the Nancy Guthrie Case
Last Friday, news broke that an adult female body had been found in Phoenix, Arizona, leading to speculation that it could be linked to the Nancy investigation.
A law enforcement source confirmed that the deceased person is not connected to the case. They said, “PCSD says it has not been advised of any law enforcement activity at the canal in Phoenix this morning being connected to the Nancy Guthrie case. Separately, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office has told TMZ it has “not been notified of any connection reference that case to the Nancy Guthrie case.”

Well everything they mentioned that he would be noticed by is everything he can now change. The eyebrows ,the ring, and cover up tattoo smh. They jeopardized their own case. Or investigation.
I don’t understand why a good forensic artist can’t look closely at his picture and piece together a likely composite of him. You can see his eyes and mouth, and the outline of his features.
In this case there are two who bungled this entire investigation –
1) Nanos
2) the press
