Nancy Guthrie Update: Expert Suggests Disturbing Next Step in Search Effort

A renowned expert shared what he thinks should be the next step in the Nancy Guthrie investigation as the search hits day 47.

Morgan Wright, an internationally recognized expert on cybersecurity. law enforcement, national security, and intelligence, spoke with NewsNation’s Brian Entin to share his insights on the case.

“At some point you have to realize it’s not a missing person anymore,” Wright said in an episode of “Brian Entin Investigates.” “We have to realize Nancy was 84 years old, cardiac-compromised, violently confronted at 2:00 in the morning in [her] own home.”

Nancy Guthrie Case Should Be Treated a ‘No-Body Homicide,’ Says Expert

Wright acknowledged that many still hope for Nancy Guthrie’s safe return but warned that the worst must also be considered.

The expert also suggested that at this point, the case should be treated as a no-body homicide.

“You need to treat this as a no-body homicide because it tells the public something different about what you’re looking at and where you’re looking for things,” Wright explained.

He continued, “If I’m looking for a missing person, I’m not looking for anything out of place. As opposed to when we have a no-body homicide, we’re looking for clandestine grave sites, open grave sites, concealed grave sites, things that when you’re out walking in the foothills, you need to be looking for these kinds of things.”

Expert Says Targeted Abduction May Have Gone Wrong

Wright hypothesized that the Nancy Guthrie case was a targeted abduction gone wrong rather than a failed burglary. He also pointed out the possibility of having two suspects involved.

“I think if I were testing a hypothesis, the one I would be testing is a targeted abduction. Why? Because the trade craft, just the sheer logistics, the mechanisms of control,” he explained. “When you target somebody for abduction, you have to have conveyance. You have to have logistics. And it’s going to take two people. “

Wright outlined what investigators should be looking for at this point in the search.

“It’s not a burglary gone wrong, it’s a targeted abduction gone wrong because the whole goal of an abduction is to get somebody you can ransom,” he explained. “And if she dies, then that’s why I say treat it as a no-body homicide. We have to start looking for, in this case, I think either open grave sites or concealed grave sites.”
