Nicole Kidman Reveals Why She’s Not Leaving Nashville After Divorce

Nicole Kidman is not planning to leave Nashville anytime soon.

The Oscar-winning actress recently opened up about life after her divorce from Keith Urban and revealed that the Tennessee city will remain her home base. During an interview with Variety, Kidman explained that Nashville has been a central part of her life for nearly two decades and still holds deep meaning for her despite the major personal change.

“We have our life here,” Kidman told the outlet, explaining that she has built a strong sense of community in the city over the last 20 years. “I’m part of the city and community for 20 years. It’s my home,” she said.

Kidman and Urban first met in 2005 and married the following year. The couple later purchased their Nashville property in 2008 and made the city their primary home while raising their daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15.

Kidman filed for divorce from Urban in September 2025 after nearly 20 years of marriage, and the split was finalized in January 2026. According to People, Kidman was granted primary custody of their daughters at the family’s Nashville residence while both parents agreed to share responsibility for major decisions involving the girls.

While discussing the breakup, Kidman kept her comments brief and emphasized that her priority remains her family. She told Variety that she is focused on moving forward while maintaining a strong family unit with her children.

“I am, because I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good,” Kidman said when asked how she has been doing following the separation, per Variety. She added that she prefers not to publicly discuss details about the divorce out of respect for everyone involved.

“What I’m grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward,” she said.

Kidman is also the mother of Bella, 33, and Connor, 31, whom she shares with former husband Tom Cruise.

Nashville Has Been Her Home for Years

Kidman’s decision to remain in Nashville reflects how deeply rooted she has become in the community over the years. According to Realtor.com, she and Urban purchased their longtime estate in 2008, a sprawling property known as the “Queen of Northumberland.” The gated home sits on about two acres and includes a swimming pool, tennis court, theater, and multiple bedrooms and living spaces.

Reports previously noted that Kidman wanted to remain in the property because it offers stability for her daughters during the transition.

The actress has also built close friendships in the city. Kidman has described having “ride-or-die” friends in Nashville and even lives near longtime friend and former “Big Little Lies” co-star Reese Witherspoon.

Kidman also pointed out that Nashville has become closely tied to her work. In her interview, she noted that filming the Prime Video series “Scarpetta” in the city allowed her to feel like she had something close to a “normal job.”

Despite the changes in her personal life, Kidman made it clear that Nashville remains where she feels most at home.

“It’s my home.”
