Pedro Pascal surprised fans on the red carpet at the 2026 Oscars after debuting a dramatically different look.
The 50-year-old actor stepped out at the Academy Awards on March 15 with a freshly shaved face — a rare appearance for the star, who is usually known for his signature facial hair.
The unexpected transformation quickly became one of the most talked-about moments of the night.
Pascal arrived at the ceremony held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles wearing a fashion-forward tuxedo look.
His outfit featured a crisp white dress shirt accented with a large white floral detail, paired with high-waisted black tuxedo pants.
He finished the ensemble with glasses and a simple watch, keeping the accessories minimal.
While the outfit turned heads, it was Pascal’s clean-shaven face that had fans doing a double take.
The actor has rarely been seen without facial hair throughout his career, which spans decades in Hollywood.
Before becoming a household name, Pascal spent years appearing in guest roles on television before landing his breakout performance as Oberyn Martell in the hit HBO series “Game of Thrones.”
Pascal Previously Said He Doesn’t Like His Face Bare
Since then, he has become one of the industry’s most recognizable stars, thanks in part to his rugged, mustached look.
Pascal himself has previously admitted that he prefers keeping the facial hair.
During a July 2025 interview with Variety, the actor joked about how he feels when he goes clean-shaven, saying he isn’t exactly a fan of the look.
“I grow such [explicative] facial hair, but if I were to shave it all off, I really look very awful,” he said at the time, adding that he strongly disagrees with the idea of going completely clean-shaven.
He pointed to his appearance in “Wonder Woman 1984” as a turning point.
Pascal played the villain Maxwell Lord in the film, which required a smoother look than fans were used to seeing.
“In Wonder Woman 1984, I was so appalled by the way I look,” he admitted. “I loved the movie, but I was so appalled by the way that I looked that I never have gone back unless it were completely necessary.”
Fans Couldn’t Get Enough
Social media quickly lit up with reactions as fans commented on the dramatic change.
Some joked that the actor looked almost unrecognizable without his signature facial hair.
One viral post even referenced fellow attendee Leonardo DiCaprio, who debuted a dark mustache at the ceremony.
The user humorously suggested that DiCaprio had “stolen Pedro Pascal’s mustache.”
“That baby faced handsome dude! Gorgeous!” one user wrote.
Others expressed that they missed his facial hair.
“The outfit is nice! I miss the stache tho lol,” one fan noted.
