Perez Hilton made amends to celebrities he’d wronged shortly before the distressing livestream that landed him in the hospital and got his TikTok account removed.
Perez Hilton Says He Tried to Apologize
GettyHilton said that he reached out to them privately during an episode of “Hang Out With Sean Hannity,” according to Page Six. He apologized for his coverage of their personal lives and said that few responded, but it seems the celebrity blogger and media personality is turning a corner.
“I’ve made amends, or tried to, with a lot of people,” he said.
He listed a few names that were part of his apologies, including Khloe Kardashian and even Britney Spears, whom the blogger was undeniably harsh toward during her highly publicized personal crisis in the early 2000s.
Hilton said that many of the celebrities didn’t reach back, and Britney Spears responded through an intermediary, but that Kardashian “was very kind” in her response.
“Well, I’m sorry, right here, right now,” he said.
The Blogger Says He Has Changed His Approach
GettyThe two also discussed cancel culture in the article and said that Nick Cannon’s words helped him evolve and shift his thinking.
“Like, you can’t cancel me anymore,” Hilton continued.
The blogger’s early approach included poking fun at celebrities’ bodies and appearances, which he has moved away from now.
“Because I realized what I was doing was wrong,” he said. “I realized that I could still be fun, but I don’t have to be so cheap, and I don’t have to be so cruel.”
“And that, you know, is something that I carry with me,” he added. “It’s like my scarlet letter. And it’s very heavy baggage.”
New Details Emerge About His TikTok Crisis
New details continue to emerge about Hilton’s recent crisis on TikTok, where he appeared to harm himself, and commenters repeatedly called for a wellness check. On Tuesday, Aug. 4, police arrived at his home to check on his well-being and transport him to a Miami-Dade-area hospital, where he is now receiving support for his mental health and treatment.
“The individual has been safely recovered and transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical attention,” a statement from the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office said. “The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Crisis Response Unit and Licensed Mental Health Professionals are also on scene providing support and resources to the individual’s family.”
The blogger’s representative also released a statement about the crisis.
“At this time, we have not been able to make direct contact with him, despite our ongoing efforts to reach him. Our primary concern is Perez’s health and well-being, as well as the well-being of his family. Until we have confirmed information, we will not speculate or comment further.”
Another update was provided on Wednesday, Aug. 5.
“At this time, we do not have any additional confirmed information to share regarding Perez Hilton’s condition. Our focus remains on Perez’s health, recovery, and the privacy of both him and his family during this incredibly difficult time,” they said to Page Six. “We are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from fans, friends and members of the media. We respectfully ask that everyone continue to honor his privacy while he receives the care he needs.”
He was also hospitalized this past March for three weeks after developing an ulcer, a perforation, and then sepsis.
