Peter Greene, who was known for his roles in iconic movies such as “Pulp Fiction” and “The Mask,” passed away late last year, and a new update regarding his death has been released.
The actor was found dead in his New York City apartment on Friday, December 12, at the age of 60, with TMZ reporting at the time that Greene’s body was found with “some injuries, but it’s undetermined what caused the injuries.” He was found after police arrived for a welfare check.
Now, the official cause of death has been revealed.
How Did Peter Green Die?
According to TMZ, Green’s official cause of death is “a gunshot wound of the left axilla with injury of the brachial artery,” with the manner of death being classified as an accident.
“In other words, Peter accidentally shot himself in the left armpit, and the bullet damaged the artery that supplies blood to the arm, elbow, forearm, and hand,” the outlet clarified.
When Was Peter Green’s Celebration of Life?
Greene was laid to rest at a private celebration of his life on December 27th, which included many of his loved ones as well as those who had worked with him over the years. According to Page Six, the memorial had roughly 40 attendees, with an insider explaining how, “Everyone shared a story, and everyone broke down crying.”
Among those in attendance was film producer Noel Ashman, who shared photos of the occasion on his Instagram page.
“Sad day at the funeral of my old friend,” Ashman wrote in the post’s caption. “I hope [you] know how much [you] were loved by me & by all your family & friends.” In addition to being friends, Ashman and Greene collaborated professionally over the years.

GettyWhen speaking with the New York Post in December, Greene’s manager detailed his final phone call with the actor, saying it was “totally normal.”
“He sounded okay … It was just a totally normal conversation. He was a little nervous about the operation going in, but he said it wasn’t super serious,” Edwards explained.
On the day his body was found, Greene was set to have a procedure to remove benign tumor from near his lung.
“He was talking about that and hoping that I was going to be okay and wishing me well as I was wishing him well,” Edwards said. We’re good friends. I love the guy … We were friends for over a decade.”
