To some fans, Cary Elwes, 63, will always be Westley, or “farm boy,” from “The Princess Bride” (1987). Others will recognize him as Mayor Larry Kline from “Stranger Things” — not to mention roles as the title character in “Robin Hood: Men in Tights” (1993) and rival tornado hunter Jonas Miller in “Twister” (1996), just to name a few. However, one person happens to know him as their dad.
Cary is the father of one daughter, Dominique Elwes, whom he shares with his wife, Lisa Marie Elwes. Now, the actor is celebrating his daughter as she turns 19.
Cary Shared a Sweet Message for Dominique
Cary, “who rose to superstardom in the Rob Reiner-directed romantic fantasy film opposite Robin Wright, Mandy Patinkin, and Wallace Shawn, has continued to make waves in recent years with films like Dead Man’s Wire,” according to Parade. “But it’s a new birthday post honoring his lookalike 19-year-old daughter, Dominique, that made our hearts swell.”
The star took to Instagram on Friday, April 24, and, in a joint post with his wife, shared a photo of his daughter standing in front of a large red door while enjoying an ice cream cone.
In the caption, he wrote, “19 years ago our dream came true with your arrival into this world. Your mom and I are in awe of you as you continue to make us proud every single day. What a blessing you are. Happy birthday, darling Dom.🎈🎊🎂🎁🥳😘🥰😍❤️🩷🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🩶🤍💖💓💗💞💕♥️♥️💝”
Dominique responded in a comment, writing, “Awww thank you! i love you guys.”
The post also prompted messages from Cary’s social media followers. One person wrote, “Happy birthday sweet beautiful Dom. I love you so much!”

This Isn’t the First Time Cary Has Posted About His Daughter
On September 25, 2025, Cary also celebrated his daughter in an Instagram post while marking a special day.
Along with a photo of Dominique, he wrote, “Happy Daughter’s Day, Dominique. You are the greatest thing to ever happen to me and your mom. We are so blessed to be your parents as you continue to make us proud every single day. We love you so much @dominiqueelwes 🩷🙏”
Before that, on June 12, 2025, the proud father shared a photo of himself, his daughter and his wife at a graduation.
Posting a photo of Dominique in a cap and gown while holding a degree, he added a caption, saying, “You have faced more than most at your age and still managed to grow, thrive, and shine. We are so proud of you, Dominique. Watching you graduate fills our hearts with joy. We love you so much @dominiqueelwes! Mom & Dad 💖🥰🎓”
As for Cary’s role as a father, his wife dedicated a post to him on June 15, 2025, writing, “Happy Father’s Day to the best. Dominique looks up to you, I’m so grateful for you, and Parker [their dog] is obsessed with you! Your dad is smiling down from heaven so proud of the incredible father and man you have become.
