Sandra Bullock is getting some very specific dating advice from someone who knows her better than most: her daughter. The Practical Magic 2 Star, 62, shared a rare glimpse into her personal life during the Thursday, September 3, episode of Kylie Kelce’s “Not Gonna Lie” podcast.
The update comes three years after the death of her longtime partner, Bryan Randall, and revealed that daughter Laila has already started thinking about who her mom should date next.
Her requirements, however, are apparently pretty particular.
What Did Sandra Bullock Say About Dating Again?
While discussing just how honest her children can be, Sandra revealed that Laila has encouraged her to start dating again. “She said I needed to date, but only someone where they can get stuff,” Sandra joked.
The Oscar winner tried to figure out exactly what kind of person would meet her daughter’s standards.
“What, a rapper, a basketball player? That’s the parameters?” she asked.
Laila reportedly agreed with her mom’s interpretation. Sandra is also mom to son Louis, 16, and has long kept both children largely out of the spotlight.
Their reaction to her celebrity, she explained, is far more practical than starstruck. Her children are apparently more interested in the perks she might bring home than the Hollywood status attached to her name.
The playful conversation marked a rare public comment from Sandra about the possibility of dating again.
What Happened to Sandra Bullock’s Partner Bryan Randall?
GettyBryan died in August 2023 following a private battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as ALS. Bryan, 57, and Sandra had been together since 2015 and built a family life with Louis and Laila.
Sandra largely kept her grief private after his death, just as the couple had kept Bryan’s illness away from the public eye. She has since spoken more candidly about what the family experienced during his health battle.
“I started grieving Bryan four years before he passed,” Sandra said during an August appearance on the “SmartLess” podcast.
She also revealed that Bryan “was ill for half of our relationship.” Bryan had asked her to keep his ALS diagnosis private, and Sandra honored that request throughout his illness.
How Have Sandra Bullock’s Kids Helped Her Move Forward?
Sandra has repeatedly made clear that her children remain at the center of her decisions, including when and how she works.
After taking a significant step back from Hollywood, the “Gravity” star has returned to acting with “Practical Magic 2,” which reunites her with Nicole Kidman nearly three decades after the original film.
Sandra has also spoken warmly about Laila’s strong personality. “This young soul is one of the bravest people I’ve ever met,” she previously said of her daughter.
That confidence apparently extends to giving her mother a little unsolicited romantic advice. Sandra did not reveal a new relationship during her conversation with Kelce and has been reported to be single.
For now, Laila’s matchmaking appears to remain firmly in the suggestion stage. Still, Sandra’s comments offered a lighthearted look at family life after several difficult years.
Rather than making a sweeping declaration about romance, she let her daughter do most of the talking, complete with some very specific expectations for whoever might eventually come next.
