“CBS Mornings” anchor Gayle King got emotional as she opened the Thursday, February 5 broadcast by making some new comments on the ongoing mystery of Savannah Guthrie’s missing mother, which grows more terrifying by the day as Nancy Guthrie is without her lifesaving medications. In her comments, King addressed the gut-wrenching video in which Savannah and her to siblings, Annie and Camron, beg for their mother’s safe return.
In last night’s video, Savannah begged of whomever took her mother, “Please, reach out to us” before saying, “Mommy, if you are hearing this, you are a strong woman. You are God’s precious daughter, Nancy. We believe and know that even in this valley, he is with you. Everyone is looking for you Mommy, everywhere. We will not rest.”

King started her comments by saying, “We’re starting things a little differently this morning because, like you, we’re all waking up this morning with very heavy hearts – praying for our friend and our colleague, Savannah Guthrie.”
The 71-year-old went on, “Her mom Nancy is still missing at this hour and late last night, the Guthrie family went public with a very emotional message.” She then tearfully called the crisis “an unimaginable situation for the Guthrie family.”
King then talked about the gut-wrenching emotional impact of Savannah’s pleas in last night’s video. “Savannah just got to me where she says ‘mommy.’ To hear a grown woman say, ‘Mommy, we’re all looking for you.’ Everybody’s looking for her. This is something that none of us can imagine having to do.”
King called the case “so frightening and so disturbing” before saying she “can’t stop thinking about Savannah and her siblings putting that video message out.” She added, “Your heart can’t help but break for her.”

GettyKing then turned her attention to sharing what she knows about Savannah’s loving relationship with Nancy. She stated, “We all know how close she was to her mother,” King told viewers. “You keep seeing those pictures over and over and over again. We’re trying to make sense of something that makes no sense. And that’s why we keep struggling and gasping for something. Help us understand how this is happening, why this is happening and what we can do about it? It’s so, so, so scary to me.”
