Savannah Guthrie is on the mend and giving viewers a glimpse into her recovery as fans continue to ask when she’ll be back on the “Today” show. When Will Savannah Guthrie Make Her Return?
While she may not be back behind the desk, Guthrie did make an appearance on the “Today: show this morning. The co-host continues to recover from vocal cord surgery, but she appeared on the morning show via video.
It looks like Savannah isn’t up for talking just yet, but she was able to communicate with her coworkers with the help of a whiteboard.
Since her surgery took place. Guthrie shared with Carson Daly, Al Roker, Sheinelle Jones, Craig Melvin, and Jenna Bush Hager that she has been keeping herself busy by journaling, painting, and reading books, including “Theo of Golden.”
Guthrie wrote on the whiteboard, “Trying to grow as a human,” regarding her at-home hobbies.
So, when will she be back in the studio? Even though she is still resting up and not wanting to talk right now, it looks like Savannah will be back in the studio next week, as NBC confirmed.
Other ‘Today Show’ News
In addition to Savannah making an appearance this morning on “Today,” we also got a chance to see Hoda Kotb, who was back on the show to discuss the upcoming Olympics. She happened to be at the table when Savannah returned, happy to see her former colleague on screen.
This day also marked the beginning of Sheinelle Jones joining Hager on the third hour of the “Today” show, “Today With Jenna and Sheinelle.”
Keeping Her Sense of Humor
She may not be able to talk, but Guthrie seems to be keeping her sense of humor during this difficult time. Her kids may want her to get back to work, also, as Guthrie relayed a funny message from her kids that stated, “Mom, even when you’re quiet, you’re still loud.”
Back in December, Savannah announced she would be undergoing the surgery, stating she learned she had vocal nodules and a polyp.
At that time, she shared, “In the last few weeks and months, some of you have noticed that my voice has been very scratchy and started to crack a little bit like Peter Brady, who was going through a change. I have vocal nodules, and now I also have a polyp. It’s not a big, big deal. But I am going to have to have a surgery real early in the new year and be off for a couple of weeks.”
She has since shared an update on her Instagram, letting her followers know that she is doing well after surgery.
