Academy Speaks Out After Teyana Taylor Says Security Guard Shoved Her at Oscars

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has spoken out following an altercation at the 2026 Oscars on Sunday, March 15, in which actress Teyana Taylor was involved in a confrontation with a security guard.

After the live broadcast finished, Taylor tried to return to the stage to take a photo with the cast of her film “One Battle After Another,” which had won Best Picture, TMZ reported. However, according to sources who spoke with the outlet, security guards attempted to stop them from going up the stairs, with one guard having “put his hands on her, trying to physically hold her back and push her away from the stage to prevent her from getting past him.”

In a video shared on social media, Taylor confronts the guard, calling him out for getting physical with her.

“You’re a man putting your hands on a female,” she said.

In a statement to Variety, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences addressed this controversial situation.

“We were extremely upset to learn about the experience endured by Teyana Taylor at the end of the Oscars ceremony last night,” the Academy said. “We have worked with Teyana over the last several months during awards season, and she has been nothing short of remarkable, supportive, kind, and all about community.  Though the incident was with our outside security firm SIS, the experience of every single guest is our responsibility.

“We have made it clear to them that this behavior is not acceptable. We want to thank Teyana for showing remarkable grace, and we are taking the appropriate measures to ensure this does not happen again.”

The outside security firm, Security Industry Specialists Inc, also released a statement.

“There was a brief interaction involving Ms. Taylor and a member of our security team during the show last evening,” they said (per Variety). “Our security personnel were working to manage a crowded area and ensure the safety of all guests. During that interaction, there was incidental contact and we regret that the situation escalated. This is not the standard of professionalism we expect from our team, and we have addressed the matter internally to help ensure situations like this do not happen again.

Teyana Taylor Addresses The Situation

When speaking to TMZ reporters outside the event, Taylor addressed the situation saying “it’s all good.”

“Security was just doing a lot,” she said. “There’s always that one… At the end of the day, I just don’t tolerate disrespect, especially when it’s unwarranted and it’s unprovoked.”
