Victoria Jones, the daughter of entertainment industry veteran Tommy Lee Jones was found dead on January 1, 2026, in a San Francisco hotel, USA Today reports. She was 34. In the days since her passing, her family has kept a low-profile, and fans should not expect to see more of he actor in the coming days because a new report from People paints him as an incredibly private person who prefers to live his life away from the spotlight.

Victoria is the daughter of Jones and his ex-wife Kimberlea Cloughley. She also has a brother, Austin Jones, who is almost ten years older and was born on November 9, 1982. She was a private person and little was known about her life. Jones also values his privacy. 

Jones “has continued to keep a low profile” since his daughter’s death, a source said, People reports. “He’s very private and mostly keeps to himself. He only leaves his ranch occasionally for necessary errands. He’s a lifelong Texan at heart. He’s focused on cattle ranching and polo. He still rides, though less frequently.”

The source also revealed that despite Jones’ extensive portfolio of work and decades in the entertainment industry, he is not one who craves the spotlight. “While his work kept him in the public eye for decades, he was never comfortable with the attention. His life now gives him great privacy,” they said.

Remembering Victoria Jones

After her death, Victoria’s family released a very short statement. “We appreciate all of the kind words, thoughts and prayers. Please respect our privacy during this difficult time. Thank you,” a family statement on January 2 read, People reports.

But who was Victoria? Like her father, she was also interested in acting. Her credits include her debut performance in “Men in Black II” in 2002, an appearance in “One Tree Hill,” and the 2005 film, “The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada,” which was directed by her father. 

“She had to get up at 5 a.m. for her part,” Jones said of Victoria’s work requirements in a 2006 interview with The New Yorker. “One morning, she wouldn’t get out of bed. I said, ‘Honey, this is work.’ But she wouldn’t budge. So I fired her. Then, without telling me, the production staff went over and woke her and rushed her out to the set just in time.” His comments suggest there was no special treatment for Victoria as an actress.

Later in the interview Jones praised his daughter and her talents. “She’s a good actress, has her sag card, speaks impeccable Spanish …” he said. “When she was a baby, I told Leticia, her nurse, to speak to her in Spanish.”
