Actress and singer Zendaya has described filming season 3 of HBO’s teen drama television series “Euphoria” as a “whirlwind” of an experience.
The 29-year-old superstar was speaking to Variety at the Los Angeles premiere of A24’s “The Drama” at DGA Theater Complex on March 17. Notably, she wore a Vivienne Westwood bridal dress that she first wore at the 2015 Oscars.
Speaking to the publication’s Emmy-nominated red carpet journalist Marc Malkin, Zendaya described the reasoning behind her description of her experience. She said, “I did what I do in eight months in like four months.” The star then made some humorous whooshing noises to represent the crazy speed at which she worked in that time.
She elaborated, saying, “It was like trying to get eight episodes in at once. It just flew by me.”
The Disney Channel alum, who has earned two Emmy Awards for her impressive performances as teenage drug addict Ruby “Rue” Bennett on the series, told Malkin she’s “seen a little bit” of the new season and added, “I’m excited” and “I hope it turns out beautifully.”
Season 3 of ‘Euphoria’ Will Hit HBO Max on April 12
“Euphoria” fans don’t have long to wait until the third season of the show is released. It’s due to hit HBO Max on April 12.
When Variety uploaded the clip of Zendaya talking about it, people began giving their thoughts on her comments.
One fan wrote, “Now I’m curious if that faster schedule will change the vibe of the season.”
Another said, “That’s intense.” They added, “Zendaya really had to double up… filming a full season in four months instead of eight must’ve been a whirlwind for everyone on set.”
Someone else commented, “Four months is lightning fast, wonder if the pace affected the storytelling.”
It remains to be seen if Zendaya’s “whirlwind” filming experience will affect her performance. Moreover, it’ll be interesting to see if it affects the general feel of “Euphoria” season 3. One thing’s that’s certain, though, is that the show’s fans are keen to find out.
‘The Drama’ Looks Set to Be Another Hit for Zendaya
GettyPer IMDb, the aforementioned “The Drama,” the premiere of which Zendaya was attending when she made the above comments, is a romantic black-comedy-drama movie described as follows: “A happily engaged couple is put to the test when an unexpected turn sends their wedding week off the rails.”
The film stars Zendaya as Emma Harwood, a bookstore clerk, and Robert Pattinson as Charlie Thompson, a British museum director and Emma’s fiancé. The talented supporting cast includes Mamoudou Athie, Alana Haim, Hailey Gates, Zoë Winters, and Anna Baryshnikov.
First reactions have started coming in and it looks set to be a big hit. Matt Neglia of Next Best Picture described it as “my kind of dark romantic comedy: deeply complex, incredibly stressful, provocative, and uncomfortably funny.”
It’s set to hit theaters on April 6. We can’t wait to see it!
