Season six of “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” is currently airing. As has been the case for multiple seasons now, Mary Cosby is one of the show’s fan favorites. Recently, the beloved Bravo star opened up about the passing of her mother.
Cosby’s mother, Rosalind Cazares, passed away in January 2025. This was around the time production on season six of “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” was ongoing. Cosby spoke to PEOPLE in November 2025 about her mother.
She began, “She had just died during that time, so I felt everything came back. I feel like it was a load off of me. I was able to breathe and just sigh and be like, ‘Okay, that part’s over.'” She went on to say that she “felt like I was just walking through a storm” before her mother passed.
Cosby then said, “She was fighting me, going against me, trying to control me, trying to judge me.”
Mary Cosby Says Her Mother Made Her a Better Mom
The “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star continued discussing how her mother impacted her life. According to her, “That’s why I think it made me a better mom, because it showed me, ‘Don’t be like that to my child.'”
She continued, “If my child tells me that he believes in something, believe him. If he’s wrong, tell him he’s wrong. I just feel like my mom didn’t do that. It was her word or the highway. I don’t ever want to be that kind of person.”
Cosby went on to say that the issues with her mother began long before “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.” However, once the show was on the air, her mother talked to the press and wrote articles about her in the local newspaper.
Still, she’s sad about the way her mother passed. She said, “When she got to the hospital, they said she went too long without oxygen to her brain. So that means that she was alone for a long time. I just feel like how you live is how you leave. A very rough way to leave this earth.”
She added, “I just hope that she did everything that she was supposed to do with the Man upstairs so that she doesn’t have to be in the darker side of life for eternity. I don’t want that for anyone.”
She Also Opened Up About Her Mother on RHOSLC
Cosby hasn’t shared many details about her mother on “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.” However, she did open up about their estranged relationship during a 2021 episode of the show. This was after a conflict with Lisa Barlow.
Per Bravo, she said at the time, “Lisa, when you question me, it just triggers. I lost someone over that. Don’t question what I’m saying.”
Cosby continued, “My mom was my friend. I thought that was my best friend. I thought whatever I chose, she knew that I was capable of handling the right choice. I lost my mom because I knew I was right, and I wasn’t backing down. She cut me off.”
“The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” airs on Tuesday nights.
