The tragic death of the son of “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star Mary Cosby has sent shockwaves through the Bravo universe. Robert Cosby Jr, the only child of Mary and Robert Cosby Sr., died on Monday. Following news of his death, an emotional conversation between Cosby and her son from last season has resurfaced online.
Mary Cosby’s Tearful Moment
“The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” viewers watched Mary struggle to help Robert Jr. with his substance abuse issues. During the Season 6 reunion show, which aired in January, a clip of Mary learning he was still using was played.
In the footage, Robert Jr. admitted to not being in a dark place because he was getting “stimuli from unhealthy sources” to help him. When Mary asked, “What sources?” he responded, “Drugs.”
Robert Jr. also confirmed he had “smoked” that day in the emotional footage that was filmed during Season 6 of the Bravo reality TV show. The moment was heartbreaking and sadly one that was all too familiar to Mary.
After watching the emotional moment, Mary confirmed that Robert Jr. was in jail at the time of the reunion, which was filmed in December. Mary revealed he was incarcerated because he kept violating a restraining order filed by his now ex-wife, Alexiana Arian Smokoff.
Despite his situation at the time, Mary wasn’t concerned about her son. “At some point, I have to step back so that he can learn and he can make his own decisions, and unfortunately, he’s learning the hard way. But I’m OK with it. It’s just, you don’t want to see your kid suffer,” she said, breaking down in tears.
Bravo Shows Up to Support Mary Cosby
Love and support have been pouring in for Mary following the death of her son, Robert Jr. “Real Housewives” executive producer and “Watch What Happens Live” host Andy Cohen shared an emotional message, calling Robert Jr.’s death “every parent’s worst nightmare.”
After Mary issued a statement regarding her son’s death, several other Bravo stars wrote in the comments to express their condolences and love for the Cosby family.
