‘RHONY’ Star Erin Lichy Opens Up About Viewers’ Misconceptions

“Real Housewives of New York” star Erin Lichy knows she isn’t the most universally loved Bravo star, but says people have her character all wrong.

Speaking to US Weekly days before the new series premieres, Erin admits that sometimes audiences’ preconceived notions about her affect her.

Erin Lichy admitted that “sometimes” she cares about what the fans think of her. The opinionated housewife has been a polarizing figure since joining the franchise three years ago, getting in hot water numerous times for her outspoken advice.

Bravo fans first met 39-year-old Erin in 2023, when she joined the all-new rebooted “RHONY” cast for season 14. She’ll return to the reality TV series for season 16 alongside co-stars Sai de Silva, Jessel Taank and Carole Radziwil.

The biggest misconception reality TV watchers have about Erin Lichy, according to the star, is her lifestyle and upbringing. “I feel like people think that I’m so pampered, and I have worked so hard,” she told the outlet.

She added: “I was not given anything. I mean, I definitely grew up in a comfortable way, and I grew up in New York City with a lot of opportunity but I have worked my ass off.”

Erin admitted it “bugs” her that some people don’t realize how hard she has worked, but “I’ll show them.”

Erin is a real estate agent, developer, and interior designer. Since appearing on the Bravo show, she has started her own mezcal line and handbag brand as well as working as a public speaker “sharing insights on design, motherhood, everyday lifestyle, and entrepreneurship.”

Unfortunately, online criticism happens when you join a show like “RHONY.” Erin has some simple ways of not letting the negativity get you down.

“The comments. Do not read. It’s pointless,” she said about the social media feedback. “We all take, like, a beating at some point.”

Erin also explained that having friends on the show can make a huge difference to how well you feel supported. She praised Carole and “RHONY” newbie Daisy Toye for creating “a very easy, authentic, immediate, close friendship.”

Erin revealed. “I’ve been friends with Carole for a while. I met Daisy, like, six months ago. But it’s like, ‘Hey, do you have a white suit?’ [and,] ‘Yeah, I’ll drop it off later tonight.’ That kind of friendship. And it feels good. It feels like really, for the first time, I have this kind of support on the show.”

Season 16 of “The Real Housewives of New York City” premieres on Tuesday, September 8 at 8/7c on Bravo and streams the next day on Peacock.
