Brooke Shields Has a Strong Opinion About Her Daughter’s Debut on ‘Next Gen NYC’

Brooke Shields is opening up about her reaction to her daughter Rowan Henchy’s step into reality television on Season 2 of Next Gen NYC. The actress admits the news brought on a mix of emotions as she adjusts to watching her daughter enter the spotlight in a very public way.

The actress told Jenna Bush and Shienelle Jones, “They didn’t have reality shows, that’s a different. And you were not praised for bad behavior. Bad behavior was not really the goal. So a lot of ratings are geared towards that.”

Sheilds admitted that upon learning of her daughter’s casting, she reacted in a very visceral way.

“Oh, I was sick to my stomach,” Shields said. “I said, ‘Look, don’t be a [expletive]. You know? Be the one, the voice of reason.”

She continued, “If you’re gonna parlay this’ — I mean it’s Bravo and Peacock, she wants to be in broadcast journalism, and she also likes being on camera — so I said, ‘See if you can translate that into another opportunity, and it’s a business choice you’re making.’”

Additionally, Shields explained, “Bad behavior is not the goal, and this should be a stepping stone of some kind. But it’s given her a lot of confidence in a way that’s so nice to see.”

Rowan is introduced in the series as Shields’ daughter by cast member Gia Giudice. When the name produced crickets, she added, “Hannah Montana’s mom,” referencing the role Shields played in 2007 and 2008.
