Chloe Lewis, who is a former star of the British reality television show “The Only Way Is Essex,” took to Instagram on Thursday, February 19, sharing a scary incident that occurred involving her son.
Specifically, Lewis shared a video montage with clips of her son spending New Year’s Eve in the hospital. And in the caption, she explained what happened, beginning by saying that she “didn’t know whether to share this with the world or not, as he’s my baby & as a parent you’re always protective over your child.”
Chloe Lewis Says This Incident Was ‘The Worst Thing I’ve Ever Experienced
Lewis received a phone call at 2 p.m., being told that her son, Beau, was in an accident while ice skating, having fallen over and someone ran over his finger with their skate.
“I’m not even sure how I got into the car and drove the 45 minutes to him, if I’m honest — it was all a complete blur,” she wrote. “When I arrived, he was wrapped up in a silver medical blanket. His little face melted my heart, and I did my best to hold back the tears so I didn’t upset him. He kept telling me, “It’s fine mum, you don’t need to cry, I’m OK. My finger’s going to be OK.”
Lewis’ son had emergency surgery that same day, in which she described watching her child being put to sleep as “the worst thing I’ve ever experienced — it’s incredibly distressing, and I honestly wouldn’t wish it on anyone.” The surgery lasted three and a half hours, and she was told it went well.
So, at the time of the post, it is eight weeks since the accident occurred.
“The part of the finger they reattached sadly didn’t take… which means if it doesn’t fall away naturally then he’ll have to have another small operation to remove it,” she wrote. “Its completely broke me & still to this day I can’t believe it’s happened.”
Chloe Lewis Is Trying To Change A Law To Prevent This Incident From Happening To Anyone Else
In the post, Lewis also explained how she is looking to help change the law, having started a petition to “make it compulsory for children to wear protective gloves while ice skating.”
The petition needs 100,000 signatures before it “will be considered for a debate in parliament.”

“Beau is an absolute warrior! Will support in anyway we can 🥹🙌🏻🙌🏻,” another person wrote.
“Signed ❤️ I can’t believe it isn’t compulsory already 💔 no one needs to go through that especially a child. I hope he heals and in time he can get back on the ice with confidence xx,” someone shared.
