Hulu premiered the Alex Cooper-produced dating series ‘Love Overboard” in March 2026, with Gabby Windey serving as host. However, several months after all nine episodes arrived on the streaming platform, it has been reported that the network opted not to renew it for a second season. This comes after the beverage brand founded by the “Call Her Daddy” host also ended.
Page Six reported on August 31 that Disney/Hulu had decided to cancel “Love Overboard,” which is produced by Cooper’s Unwell Productions. Regarding the rumored reasoning, an insider told the outlet that the series “wasn’t finding an audience.” However, this is despite encouraging social media presence from its March premiere.
The nine-episode first season of “Love Overboard” featured 22 singles, all looking for love on a yacht. Regarding its host, Windey, she’s of “Bachelorette” and “The Traitors” fame.
Alex Cooper Previously Discussed ‘Love Overboard’ And Stepping into Producing
GettyAhead of the premiere of “Love Overboard,” Cooper was interviewed by Variety, discussing the evolution of her career, including stepping into producing television shows. Notably, Unwell Productions was behind the “Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special,” “Let’s Marry Harry,” and has other projects in the works.
Cooper said of the career change, “This has always kind of been the plan. This is a massive moment for Unwell’s evolution into a fully integrated media company. We launched Unwell Productions because I genuinely believe nobody understands or engages or mobilizes the next generation like we do.”
She continued, “We’re taking that unparalleled consumer intimacy that we have at Unwell and getting to translate it into premium unscripted series for major streamers. It’s a no-brainer for us.”
Regarding her goals with “Love Overboard,” Cooper stated, “We were just trying to make something that had the elements of a dating show and a little bit of that gamification and merging it together.”
From there, she opened up about the show being set on a yacht, saying, “It adds such suspense and humor and chaos. I was so interested in exploring this luxury yacht life and people being able to date like the Kardashian lifestyle, which most of us don’t get to experience. But also, will people fall in love underneath together and enjoy their life with the less glamorous things?”
Unwell Beverages Is Shutting Down
GettyCooper launched Unwell Beverages in 2025 via a partnership with Nestle SA. The brand primarily focused on hydration, energy, and various protein drinks. However, Bloomberg reported on August 13 that the company would shut down in the fall of 2026 following a line of Halloween-themed beverages.
The report from Bloomberg cites sources from Target Corp, which is Unwell Beverages’ primary distributor. Regarding its products, the company launched with Unwell Hydration, which consists of electrolyte-infused drinks. After that came Unwell Focus, Unwell Protein, and Unwell Energy.
The “Love Overboard” producer spoke to Elite Daily in December 2025 about the beverage brand. She said, “Our community is largely women, and we’ve built this brand around what they actually need in a wellness world that can feel overwhelming.
The goal was simple: create products that fit into real life — the well moments and the unwell ones — without expecting you to be something you’re not. And while the beverage portfolio was shaped by women, it’s something anyone can enjoy.”
