Fans will soon have a reason to spend six nights a week glued to their couches when “Love Island USA” season 8 returns on Tuesday, June 2, on Peacock.
While the cast is still not yet known, host Ariana Madix returns, promising a slew of fierce outfits, while “Summer House” star Ciara Miller will join Tefi Pessoa for “Love Island USA Aftersun.” But before the season kicks off, “Love Island USA” shared an important reminder to viewers about online negativity, encouraging viewers to remember that the show is meant to be fun as it welcomes people from all walks of life.
‘Love Island USA’ Urges Fans to Stop the Negativity Ahead of Season 8 Premiere
Getty“Love Island USA” returns on June 2, but before the season kicks off, the show is sending viewers an important reminder ahead of its highly anticipated premiere.
“The Villa runs on good vibes, and so does this community. We love seeing your reactions, opinions, and debates, but everyone deserves to feel safe and respected,” the statement began.
“This is a space for fun, not negativity – so keep it kind, keep it positive, and remember: this is LOVE Island!” The message concluded.
In the comment section, former “Love Island” star Maura Higgins wrote, “AMEN.” While fans shared, “Hate that we have to have a PSA, new fans please stop ruining my show 😫💗.”
“when love island headquarters pulls us for a chat 😂,” another joked. “having to say this cause last seasons fans were so insane is so 😭,” a person wrote.
According to Us Weekly, host Ariana Madix issued her own statement last year after viewers left negative comments not only on contestants’ social media, but also sent messages of hate to their families.
“I do want to say something to some of those people who are online,” she said during an episode of “Aftersun.” “Don’t be contacting people’s families. Don’t be doxxing people,” she added.
She continued, “Don’t be going on islanders’ pages and saying rude things. You still have time to delete all of that because the islanders don’t have their phones. So we are giving you a chance because this is a fun, amazing and beautiful show. We should be thanking each one of these islanders every single day for giving us themselves.”
Ariana Madix Shares the Behind-the-Scenes of Filming the ‘Love Island’ Premiere
GettyAccording to “Love Island USA” host Ariana Madix, it takes a really, really long time to film the show’s premiere episode.
Speaking with Peacock Blog ahead of the season 8 premiere, Madix shared, “It’s a very, very long night. Because, you know, I’m in glam. I’m shooting my entrance, all this stuff … “It’s a really, really long night… usually we don’t get done until maybe, like four [in the morning].”
During that time, Madix is also familiarizing herself with the new cast, telling the blog that “either that day or the day before,” she’s learning all of their names and how to properly pronounce them before filming begins.
Additionally, she wants viewers to remember that some of these Islanders are in front of a camera for the very first time, which can be nerve-racking for anyone.
“It’s all of their first time, most of the time, filming anything,” she said, adding, “A lot of what goes into that first night is just the logistics of what it’s like to film a huge premiere like that. You know, ‘When you see a T on the floor, just stand right there when you come next to me,’ just kind of like getting them comfortable with the whole process that first night.”
The former “Vanderpump Rules” star also shared that seeing chemistry in person can be very different than that which fans see on TV.
“I’m always surprised by who ends up coupling up. Sometimes I think you can feel an energy between people that maybe you don’t even see on camera but when you’re there in person you can always kinda feel like, ‘Oooh, there’s some chemistry here,'” she shared.
