Fans of reality show “Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood” are offering their condolences as Jamar Champ, the estranged husband of Masika Kalysha, has sadly passed away. His passing is the result of an unfortunate car crash on October 28. He was 38 years old.
According to PEOPLE, Champ was on the Houston freeway when he was struck by a wrong-way driver. The car, a silver BMW, was traveling westbound in eastbound lanes. Champ is said to have been driving a Tesla Cybertruck at the time of the tragic crash.
Following Champ’s death, Kalysha issued a statement. She said, “I understand the blogs have a job to do. I just ask respectfully that you guys refrain from posting information until I do.”
She continued, “Because words spread fast to children.” Kalysha then said that her children are not on social media, but their friends are. She also asked for privacy at this time. Kalysha and Champ tied the knot in 2021 and share one daughter.
The former “Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood” star also posted on X. She wrote, “God woke me up at 2:00am… I couldn’t sleep. I didn’t know why. Jesus Christ, I just received the worst news of my life. Pray for me and my kids, please.”
Fans Have Kind Words for Kalysha and Champ Following His Passing
Champ never appeared on “Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood” as he and Kalysha didn’t begin dating until after she left the show. Still, fans are saddened over the tragic nature of his death. As a result, many are offering warm sentiments.
His former coach, Tim Polaek, said on X, “My heart goes out to the family and former teammates of Jamar Champ, who was part of my first Bison team in 2006. 💔 Once A Bison, Always A Bison… RIP Jamar.”
One person said on Instagram, “Praying for your strength during this time. Praying for Gods peace be placed upon you and your babies and his mom. 🙏🏾 🕊️”
Someone else wrote on X to remind people about the dangers of wrong-way driving. They said, “The crash serves as a tragic reminder of the dangers of wrong-way driving, highlighting ongoing concerns about freeway safety in the Houston area.”
He Will be Missed
According to Life & Style, Kalysha left “Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood” in 2018. Two years later, she and Champ began dating. They then became engaged four months later. From there, they tied the knot in 2021 and had their daughter, Amari Hermes Champ, the following year.
