Brandon Barash has become a familiar face to daytime television fans thanks to his memorable roles on “General Hospital” and “Days of Our Lives.” Over the years, the actor has built a loyal following through his long-running soap career, music projects, and growing family life.
While many viewers know him as Johnny Zacchara or Stefan DiMera, there’s much more to Brandon Barash than his on-screen roles. With that in mind, here are five fast facts to know about the longtime soap star.
1. Brandon Barash Got His Acting Start on ‘Gilmore Girls’
Soap vet Brandon Barash got his acting start on the cult-classic TV show, “Gilmore Girls.”
About two months after graduating from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in acting, Barash landed a recurring role as Paris Gellar’s boyfriend, Jamie, on the WB drama series.
He appeared in three episodes between 2002 and 2004.
2. Brandon Barash Has Starred on ‘General Hospital’ and ‘Days of Our Lives’
Brandon Barash joined daytime television in 2007. His entry into the soap world came through “General Hospital.” Barash came to Port Charles as Johnny Zacchara, heir to the Zacchara crime family. Barash played Zacchara from 2007 to 2013 and then once again for a brief stint from 2014 to 2016.
In 2019, Barash arrived in Salem as the recast Stefan DiMera. Barash took over the role from the late Tyler Christopher, who had previously portrayed Nikolas Cassadine on “General Hospital.” Barash played Stefan from 2019 to 2020 before taking on the role of Jake DiMera from 2020 to 2022. He later reprised the role of Stefan from 2022 to 2024.
Jake and Stefan were twin sons of Stefano DiMera and Vivian Alamain, though both characters were ultimately killed off the show. However, as any good soap fan knows, death is only temporary, so there’s still a chance that Barash may make his way back to Salem in the future.
3. Brandon Barash Is Also a Musician
Along with his acting chops, Brandon Barash is also a musician. Along with his former “GH” co-stars, Steve Burton, Scott Reeves, and Bradford Anderson, Barash played in the rock group called Port Chuck. They performed covers together from 2010 to 2020.
Barash also formed The Day Players Band with his “DOOL” co-stars, Wally Kurth, Carson Boatman, and Eric Martsolf.

4. Brandon Barash Was Married to ‘GH’ Star Kirsten Storms
In August 2013, Barash and his former “GH” co-star, Kirsten Storms, revealed to fans that they had secretly gotten married earlier that year in June.
In January 2014, the couple welcomed their first and only child together, Harper Rose Barash.
After about two-and-a-half years of marriage, the soap stars announced in April 2016 that they had filed for divorce.
5. Brandon Barash Is a Father and Family Man
While Barash’s marriage to Storms ended in divorce, the soap star is still a father and a family man. Following his divorce, Barash began dating one of Harper’s teachers, Isabella Devoto. Barash and Devoto tied the knot in December 2022.
In September 2023, Barash and his new wife welcomed their first child together, a son named Joaquin Lee Barash. The couple is expecting another boy in June 2026, making the soap star a father for the third time.
