Beloved “Days of Our Lives” star Suzanne Rogers (Maggie) isn’t holding back, talking about her decades on the hit Peacock soap. The actress has even addressed her status on the show, since she hasn’t gotten much screen time over the past couple of years.
Suzanne Rogers Isn’t Leaving ‘Days of Our Lives’
Rogers debuted as Maggie almost 53 years ago, and she has no plans to stop playing her, even though Maggie isn’t being used much other than to prop up other characters like her daughter, Sarah (Linsey Godfrey).
Speaking with Digital Journal, Rogers got candid about not working as much as she has in the past.
“Every time we get new writers come over, it takes them a while to get to know our characters and to write for us. Also, it depends on whoever you are working with. If they have a storyline and you are a part of it, that means that you are a part of that storyline,” the soap star expressed.
The last major storyline Rogers was involved in was when Victor (John Aniston) died, and Konstantin (John Kapelos) surfaced, trying to scam Maggie out of Victor’s money. However, Rogers fully understands that it is the nature of the soap world.
“That’s okay because soap operas are cyclical. I always say that soaps are like a roller coaster. You know you’re up and you’re down, you’ve got a story and then, you don’t have a story… and that’s just the way that soap operas operate,” Rogers stated.
In November, during the “Days of Our Lives” 60th anniversary, Rogers revealed to People magazine that she has no plans to retire.
The actress instead declared that she will have to be locked out of the studio to get rid of her. Rogers also admitted that if the powers that be asked her to leave, she would gracefully leave because Rogers knows she has had a great run on the show.
Suzanne Rogers Reflects on Working with John Aniston
It was a bit of a shock for “Days of Our Lives” fans when widowed Maggie fell in love with ruthless business tycoon Victor, following the death of her great love Mickey (John Clarke). What fans got through was another great soap love story that was unexpected but entertaining to watch unfold.
Maggie and Victor spent over a decade together in love and married before his death, following the real-life passing of Aniston. Rogers spoke with Digital Journal about working with beloved soap icon Aniston for so many years.
“John was just lovely, and really wonderful to work with; I miss him, I really do,” she said, adding that he was also “the nicest man.” Rogers credited Aniston for being so good at his job, insisting he was always prepared.
