Joss Gets Shocking News She Never Expected on “General Hospital”

It looks like Joss no longer has to keep her affiliation with the WSB a secret on General Hospital. She’s been telling just about everyone she meets that she’s an agent—including Port Charles’ newest arrival, Hudson Parker.

On Friday, August 7, Hudson returns to Port Charles after tracking Ethan to Norway. At the Metro Court, he drops a bombshell on Josslyn Jacks. Her father, Jasper Jacks, made her CEO of his company, Jasper Jacks Enterprises. Hudson has come to Port Charles to brief her on the company and get her up to speed.

Joss immediately wants to call her father, but Hudson explains that Jasper is sailing around the world and can’t be reached. She quickly tells Hudson she has no interest in becoming CEO because she already has a job—as a WSB agent.

A Baffling Choice

Joss is stunned by the news. She has no idea why Jasper would name her CEO. She has no corporate experience, knows very little about the company, and has never shown any interest in running a business.

Hudson seems just as puzzled by the decision. He’s also clearly irritated that he flew all the way from Australia only to have Joss reject the position outright. Joss isn’t concerned about his frustration. The two immediately clash, and she tells him to put together a list of people who would be better suited to run the company because she has no intention of taking the job.

The entire situation feels out of the blue. It’s hard to believe Jasper would hand his company over to Joss without discussing it with her first.

Sending a stranger halfway around the world to deliver the news also seems out of character. It raises the question of whether there’s more going on than Hudson is telling her. Fortunately, Joss is a trained WSB agent who knows how to investigate suspicious situations.

What’s Hudson’s Real Motive?

Hudson doesn’t seem particularly good at keeping his temper under control. He beat Ethan badly and even threatened his life. Now he’s directing that same anger at Joss, who is both a complete stranger and, technically, his new boss. Viewers also know Hudson is searching for Delilah and her baby.

Could Hudson have volunteered for this assignment so he could continue looking for Delilah? Or does he have another reason for wanting to be Jasper’s messenger? It feels unlikely that the sole purpose of his trip was to inform Joss she’d been named CEO. There’s almost certainly another layer to Hudson’s story that hasn’t been revealed yet.

Joss’s Future With the WSB

The secret is definitely out now. Joss is openly identifying herself as a WSB agent, which could make undercover assignments much more difficult in the future. On the other hand, it may be setting up a much bigger role for her within the organization.

It broke this week that Jack Brennan will be killed off of General Hospital this fall. Could Joss eventually step into his shoes as acting Director of the WSB or become the agency’s top operative in Port Charles?

Now that her connection to the WSB appears to be public knowledge, she may be transitioning away from undercover work and into a leadership role. Of course, that assumes she can find someone else to run Jasper Jacks Enterprises.
