Fans of “General Hospital” who tuned in today to finally catch a brand new episode were greeted with disappointment because, for the third day in a row, it was preempted. The last-minute scheduling change was due to special programming for Major League Baseball. The good news is that GH will return with a new episode on Friday, October 3, 2025.
MLB Playoff Games Have Caused GH to Be Preempted
GettyGH fans first learned of the scheduling change on Sept. 29, 2025, when ABC programming executive Nathan Varni posted on X, “Due to MLB daytime games this week, new episodes of GH will air Monday, Thursday, and Friday. Thursday is tentative based on [Wednesday’s] game results. Sorry for the interruptions, have a great week!”
Baseball fans already know that the Cubs won the first game, and the Padres the second, so that leaves the wild card tournament in a tie, and they’ll play a tiebreaker game today. That game is what has caused “General Hospital” to be preempted, and it will now show another old episode from 2023.
‘General Hospital’ Returns With a New Episode on Friday
ABCThings will pick up on Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, exactly where they left off in Port Charles. Michael has used Jacinda to try to establish an alibi, but it appears even Tracy is unsure of his innocence. Spoilers show that she will make a vow to Michael. Is she even more protective of her family now that Monica is gone?
Speaking of Tracy, she has no intention of letting Monica’s alleged sister, Ronnie Bard, anywhere near the rest of the family. But will she really be able to control Ronnie’s actions? The Port Charles newbie is already promising Sonny that she won’t be intimidated by Tracy!
Also ahead in Friday’s episode, Anna interrogates Carly in connection with Drew’s shooting. Is she actually a suspect? Or is Anna actually trying to move in on Carly’s son, Michael?
Spoilers also hint at the possibility of Nathan meeting his son for the first time. James was born not long after Nathan supposedly died seven years ago. Spinelli has a conversation with Britt, but will he introduce James to Nathan in Maxie’s absence?
Last, but certainly not least, GH fans know that Ric has broken free from his restraints and escaped from Alexis’s basement. As she settles down for a nap, Rick is creeping around her house looking crazed. The spoiler clip shows Alexis with a knife to her throat. Will Ric exact revenge? Or will someone interrupt a potential act of violence?
