“General Hospital” fans know that one of the most frequently spoken lines of the series is, “It’s Monica’s house, Alan gave it to her.” The Quartermaine estate was bought in 1978 by Alan and given to Monica as a wedding present. Nearly every family member, over several generations, has lived on the property with their own growing families.
Now that Monica’s memorial has come and gone, and the family has paid their respects to the cornerstone of their family, it’s time for the reading of her will. That leads to the big question: Who will inherit Monica’s house?
Tracy and Monica Were Frenemies for 45 Years
ABCMonica’s history with Tracy Quartermaine spanned 45 years. When Alan decided to make Monica his wife, Tracy refused to believe that she was good enough to be a Quartermaine. Even when she eventually saw the value in Monica, she spent decades refusing to admit it.
At Monica’s memorial, Tracy finally admitted just how important her brother’s wife had been to her. Tracy shared with the family that while she spent her younger years thinking Monica wasn’t good enough, she now understands that she was actually the best of the family.
Tracy believes that Michael will inherit the Q’s estate and asked him to allow her to continue living on the property. She won’t need permission if her oldest friend leaves the house with her.
Monica’s Beloved Grandson May Get the House
ABCMichael Corinthos’ connection to his grandmother is undeniable. He has lived at the Qs with his own small children for years, making them all a daily presence in Monica’s life. Michael has admitted that one of his biggest regrets was not seeing his grandmother before leaving for work on the day that she died. He would usually check on her and kiss her before leaving the house, and skipped it that day because he was dealing with Willow.
Michael Remains locked in a custody battle with his ex over their two children, Wylie and Amelia. He has always raised his kids on the Quartermaine estate, and he just might inherit the house.
Jason, Monica’s Chosen Son
ABCJason was born out of a relationship that Alan had with Susan Moore in 1981. When he was sick as a baby, Monica was called on to help him, and after doing so, she declared him her son. Their relationship wasn’t always good, especially after a head injury wiped out most of Jason’s memory. Instead of choosing a more ethical path, he became an enforcer for Sonny Corinthos. To this day, Jason functions as a trained killer, but he balances that out by raising his son, Danny Morgan, under the Q’s roof.
When Danny’s mom passed away last year, Jason and his son moved into the estate to keep Sam’s children close together. That gave Jason daily interaction with Monica, which went a long way to heal their relationship. The love between them became apparent, and it’s possible that he could inherit the family home.
The Wild Card Possibilities
ABCMonica may choose to leave the Quartermaine home to a younger couple, one that she views as the future of the family. If that’s the case, then she may have picked Brook Lynn and Chase. The couple is still relatively new to marriage, but they seem to embody the qualities that are important to the family’s legacy.
There is also always a chance that Monica decided to turn the whole family upside down by leaving everything to her usually estranged sister, Ronnie Bard. She just appeared in Port Charles after Monica’s passing and was invited to the reading of the will. While many suspect she is looking for a handout, it would be cool if she did inherit the mansion and then give it to Michael. Perhaps she’ll realize she doesn’t want what they have at all, and if so, Michael is the one Monica talked to her about the most.
Who do you think Monica has left her house to?
