‘General Hospital’ Star Tells Maurice Benard About Her Surprising ‘Twilight’ Connection

One of the youngest stars on “General Hospital” is Bluesy Burke, who plays Charlotte Cassadine, the teenage daughter of Lulu Spencer and Valentin Cassadine. The 18-year-old recently sat down for a podcast interview with co-star Maurice Benard, who has played Sonny Corinthos on “GH” for the last three decades. Yes, longer than Bluesy has even been alive.

On the podcast, “State Of Mind with Maurice Benard,” Bluesy opened up to her “GH” co-star about what it was like growing up with a famous parent. In the process, the star also revealed her unique connection to the “Twilight” film series.

‘General Hospital’ Star Bluesy Burke Explains Her Surprising ‘Twilight’ Connection

Making her first-ever podcast appearance, Bluesy Burke revealed to her “GH” co-star that she actually has a surprising connection to the “Twilight” film franchise. Bluesy was only around a year old when the first “Twilight” movie was released in November 2008. As a result, most fans are probably unaware of the “GH” star’s connection to “The Twilight Saga.”

Bluesy began the podcast by sharing a little about her upbringing with Maurice. She revealed that she was born in Los Angeles and spent her early years there. However, about a year into the COVID-19 pandemic, her mother decided to relocate the family to New York City.

Bluesy opened up about the challenges of moving to a new school in the eighth grade during that time. The teen noted that she didn’t know what any of her new classmates looked like for months because everyone was still wearing masks.

While learning how to navigate a new middle school and make new friends during the COVID pandemic is certainly an interesting tale, Bluesy’s story got even more interesting when she opened up about her personal connection to “The Twilight Saga.” The teen soap star eventually revealed to Maurice that her own dad starred as Charlie Swan, the father of Bella Swan.

Bluesy Burke’s Dad Is ‘Twilight’ Star Billy Burke

As a result, that makes Bluesy Burke the one and only daughter of actor Billy Burke. Born in Bellingham, Washington, the 59-year-old actor appeared as Charlie Swan throughout all five films in “The Twilight Saga,” sharing many scenes with co-star and on-screen daughter, Kristen Stewart.

The “GH” star’s dad has also had a solid career in television. Burke landed the role of Miles Matheson in the NBC science-fiction series “Revolution” from 2012 to 2014. His next big gig came as Dr. Mitch Morgan in the CBS drama series “Zoo,” which he starred in from 2015 to 2017.

Most recently, Burke starred as Vince Leone in the CBS action drama “Fire Country” from 2022 to 2025.

Bluesy Burke Refused to Watch Her Dad in ‘Twilight’

Interestingly, Bluesy also shared with Maurice that she refused to watch her dad in the “Twilight” film series when she was younger. Bluesy admitted, “I didn’t watch the movies forever because I was weirded out by it, kind of.”

The teen explained that many of her friends got into “Twilight” in middle school, and were surprised she hadn’t seen the films. “They were like, ‘OMG, Bluesy, your dad’s in “Twilight.” Have you not seen it? It’s so good!'” she recalled.

At the time, Burke said she had no interest, telling them, “I don’t want to watch it.” Despite that, her friends would still send her TikTok edits of her dad as Charlie Swan. Bluesy even got a good laugh out of Maurice when she revealed that she told her friends, “I don’t want to see that. That’s weird.”

While the young “GH” star wasn’t initially into watching “Twilight” or seeing anything surrounding the franchise, she eventually came around to the idea. She shared that later in high school, she finally watched all of the films with her cousins, calling it “a fun experience.”
