Jack Brennan may be leaving “General Hospital” this fall, but Carly Spencer isn’t planning on leaving Port Charles anytime soon. Laura Wright responded to a fan post this weekend revealing that she has just renewed her “General Hospital” contract and plans on staying with the soap for a long time.
A fan made a heartfelt post explaining how much Carly Spencer and Laura Wright have meant to her over the years, and Wright saw the message. She reposted the fan’s initial post along with a reassuring message of her own confirming that she isn’t planning on leaving “General Hospital”:
There have been some big casting shakeups on “General Hospital” lately, so it’s nice to know that at least one longtime fan-favorite actress is sticking around for the foreseeable future. And Carly certainly has plenty of story left to tell.
Carly And Jack Brennan
Carly’s volatile relationship with WSB director Jack Brennan lasted a long time, but it came to an end earlier this spring. When Carly found out that Jack had recruited her daughter Josslynn to become a WSB agent, Carly started to sour on Jack. Eventually, she became determined to take him down and entered into a reluctant partnership with fugitive Valentin Cassadine to do it.
Now, Jack is officially no longer part of her life. Meanwhile, Carly has developed a strong romantic relationship with Valentin. But she still hasn’t been able to convince Josslynn to leave the WSB behind.
With Jack Brennan slated to be written out of “General Hospital” this fall, Carly’s relationship with Valentin could become her next great love affair. Of course, considering Valentin’s history, a peaceful romance probably isn’t in the cards for these two.
Carly And The Mob Boys
Carly has a long and complicated history with both Sonny Corinthos and Jason Morgan. It will be interesting to see how she reacts to both men deciding to leave the mob and give up their lives of crime.
She may be supportive of those decisions now. But in the future, if Carly needs some help with shady dealings to get her way, she probably won’t hesitate to turn to Jason or Sonny to bend whatever rules need bending.
Carly has always stood by Sonny and Jason, even when doing so put her at risk. She even perjured herself when Sonny was in legal trouble over Cates’ murder. That fierce loyalty probably isn’t going to change, no matter what Sonny and Jason decide to do in the future.
Laura Wright’s Long “General Hospital” Career
Laura Wright is an icon on “General Hospital.” She has played Carly Spencer for more than 20 years and has become one of the most recognizable faces on the soap.
Her partner, Wes Ramsey, is also a “General Hospital” favorite known for his role as Peter August. The two actors actually first met years ago while working on another soap, “Guiding Light.” They have now been in a relationship for nine years.
Wright has invested a lot of herself in the character of Carly Spencer over the past two decades. During that time, Carly has been involved in some of the show’s biggest romances, rivalries, family dramas and scandals.
So, for Carly fans, Wright’s contract renewal is great news. Port Charles may be going through some major changes, but Carly Spencer isn’t going anywhere. And with her connections to Valentin, Josslynn, Sonny, Jason and the rest of her family, there are still plenty of directions for “General Hospital” to take Carly next.
