Lynn Herring is Thrilled That Lucy Coe Has a Juicy Story Arc on “General Hospital”

Lynn Herring has been playing Lucy Coe on “General Hospital” for 40 years. During that time, she’s had some wonderfully juicy and messy story arcs. But it’s been a relatively quiet year for Lucy Coe. Now, with her daughter Serena Baldwin back in Port Charles and working with Lucy at Deception, Lucy is once again going to get a big story arc. And Lynn Herring is pretty excited about it.

Lynn Herring recently talked to TV Insider about her long history on “General Hospital”, how much she enjoys working on the soap, and how happy she is that Lucy Coe is heading for a big story arc this fall.

There’s Deception Ahead For Lucy Coe

While talking about how “General Hospital” has helped her heal from losing her husband, Wayne Northrop, she said about her upcoming story arc:

“I have been itching to play a great storyline, so what a gift it is that at this time in my life, I have a real meaty storyline that might make the audience understand Lucy more and hopefully enjoy it”.

Fans are excited as well to see Lucy Coe take the lead in a story highlighting Lucy’s very special talents in business and in getting what she wants. Currently, she’s using her daughter Serena to try and get Michael Corinthos to give up the shares of Deception he bought from Maxie.

Lucy And Serena Will be a Fun Duo to Watch

The arrival of Serena Baldwin in Port Charles started Lucy’s new arc, which will have her trying to take back Deception and oust the Quartmaines if possible. Lucy may decide to turn Deception into a family business now that Serena is broke and needs to find work. Together, this scheming mother and daughter pair are going to interject some new life into “General Hospital”.

Serena Baldwin is being played by Kelly Kruger, who is new to “General Hospital” but not new to soap operas. Lynn says that she and Kelly clicked right away. She said:

“I always say that the actors that are willing to play have a twinkle in their eyes…and right from the moment I started talking to her, that twinkle in her eye was so much fun because I could see that if I toss her something, she’ll toss it back.”

Lynn Loves “General Hospital” as Much as Fans Love Her

Lucy Coe has a special place in the hearts of long-time “General Hospital” fans. Many have grown up watching Lynn play Lucy. And Lynn loves the time she’s spent playing Lucy and the generations of fans who have watched.

In the TV Insider interview she talked about how much “General Hospital” has meant to her saying:

“I wouldn’t have the same amazing life without General Hospital. I wouldn’t be Lynn without General Hospital. It gave me so much freedom to be creative and then live a dual life of being an environmentalist and saving the land that I care about. I am so grateful.”

Get Ready For Classic Lucy Coe

After 40 years in Port Charles, Lucy Coe still has plenty of trouble left to cause. And Lynn Herring is ready for it. Bringing Serena home and putting her right in the middle of Lucy’s latest Deception scheme is a great way to start a “juicy” storyline for Lucy Coe.

Lucy Coe is at her best when she’s scheming, meddling and social climbing. If this fall’s storyline gives us plenty of classic Lucy while exploring her relationship with Serena, it could be one of the most entertaining stories the show has given her in years.
