Prince Harry Praises King Charles as ‘Great’ After London Reunion

Prince Harry reunited with King Charles for the first time in more than a year, calling his father “great” following a private meeting at Clarence House. The Duke of Sussex, 40, met with the King, 76, on Sept. 10 for tea at the monarch’s London residence.

Prince Harry & King Charles Reconnect in London

According to The New York Times, the royal father and son spent nearly an hour together, marking their first in-person encounter since February 2024.

Afterward, Harry attended a reception for the Invictus Games Foundation at The Gherkin in London. As reported by People, when asked about the King’s well-being by a journalist, Harry replied, “Yes, he’s great, thank you.”

The reunion followed remarks Harry in an interview with BBC in May, when he expressed hope for reconciliation with his father amid King Charles’ health concerns. “I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point continuing to fight any more, life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has,” he said at the time.

Prince Harry’s U.K. Trip & Invictus Games

Harry’s London appearance followed a busy week in the U.K. On Sept. 8, he attended the WellChild Awards, honoring children with serious health needs and their families, and paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth on the third anniversary of her death before attending the Invictus Games.

At the Sept. 10 event, Harry reflected on the global climate. “We live in a time when conflicts rage across the globe, when anger and resentment towards those who are different can feel overwhelming,” he said. “The Invictus community stands as a direct challenge to that. We prove that unity is not just possible, but formidable.”

The Invictus Games Foundation marked its 10th anniversary last year, with celebrations at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. The international event, inspired by the U.S. Warrior Games, continues to attract countries vying to host future competitions.

In an official statement, the Duke of Sussex said, “This is what Invictus does best: it catalyses change. It shows what is possible when courage is met with opportunity, and when recovery is supported by respect and community. That is why tonight is so important. Because as proud as I am of our first decade, I know the next decade matters even more.”

As Prince Harry’s eventful visit to the U.K. winds down, royal watchers will be keeping a close eye on whether his reunion with King Charles marks the beginning of more father-son reconnections.
