The singer’s planned break from public visibility will therefore have one notable exception. Ariana Grande is proud of the film and intends to support it during its promotional run.
The news is significant because it was not initially clear whether the pop star would participate. Her decision to step away from public life had raised questions about her upcoming movie commitments.
Billboard confirmed that the break “will not prevent her from taking part” in “Focker-in-Law” press. The report also noted that Ariana Grande will continue working on her brands, including R.E.M. Beauty.
Why Ariana Grande Is Still Promoting “Focker-in-Law”
The singer’s connection to the movie gives her a clear reason to remain involved. Ariana Grande plays Olivia Jones in the new installment of the “Meet the Fockers” franchise.
The film also features returning franchise stars Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller. The story centers on Henry, the son of Greg and Pam Focker. He faces family chaos after deciding to marry a woman who seems completely mismatched with him.
The singer first revealed plans for the break in August. At the time, her representative said she would take “a much-deserved break” after finishing the Eternal Sunshine Tour.
The decision also came with another major career change. Ariana Grande withdrew from the upcoming West End revival of “Sunday in the Park With George.” She had been scheduled to star in the 2027 production alongside “Wicked” co-star Jonathan Bailey.
Ariana Grande later addressed the decision herself. During an Eternal Sunshine show in Chicago, she said it “was not a reactive or impulsive thing.” She described it as “a plan that I had quietly made a long time ago.”
The Tour Ends With a Major Milestone
The timing of the announcement followed the conclusion of her Eternal Sunshine Tour. According to Billboard, the tour ended on September 1 after a run of 10 shows at London’s O2 Arena. The tour grossed $107.9 million, selling 638,000 tickets.
The tour supported Ariana Grande’s 2024 album, “Eternal Sunshine.” The album reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
