On October 11, “The Voice” coach John Legend‘s wife, Chrissy Teigen, attended Hello Sunshine’s Shine Away event. Featuring a range of community-based discussions, one of the panels at the two-day event focused on diabetes.
John and Chrissy have been very involved in the diabetic community since their son, Miles, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. John even attended a diabetic family camp with Miles this past summer. Chrissy was at the Shine Away event to speak about type 1 diabetes screening.
However, while chatting with People, the conversation turned to her friendship with the Duchess of Sussex. “I adore her,” she said of Meghan. “I really adore her. I think she is so incredibly strong.” But when it comes to play dates between the two families, Chrissy admitted that she’d love to — if she left the house more.
Chrissy Teigen Praises Meghan Markle’s ‘Incredible’ Strength Amid Public Polarization
Chrissy claimed that she leaves the house much less often than most people realize. So, getting her kids — Luna, 9, Miles, 7, Esti, 2, and Wren, 2 — together with Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, just hasn’t happened. “I’m not joking,” she said, chuckling. “I don’t go anywhere. I try to do every photo shoot, every everything at our house. So no. But if the time came up, absolutely.”
One thing that Chrissy admitted she found baffling was how “polarizing” many people found Meghan. “She really is just such a kind, good person that wants the best for all her friends and the best for people around her, and the best for her own relationship and for her children,” she said.
“She just wants those things,” Teigen continued. “And people come up with all these different things that she could be about or what she wants, … [but] it’s not that complicated.”
“I think it’s cool that [Meghan] is just like, ‘Listen, say whatever you want. I’m happy and I’m healthy and I feel good,'” she added.
Chrissy Teigen and Meghan Markle Met During Their Game Show Days
Chrissy and Meghan Markle first met 19 years ago, when they were briefcase models on “Deal or No Deal.” When Chrissy appeared on Meghan’s Netflix series, “With Love, Meghan,” they reminisced about meeting on the show.
“I was thinking about how many moons ago we crossed paths,” Meghan said. “Good ol’ ‘Deal or No Deal.'”
“I feel our lives have had so many chapters,” Chrissy replied. “And that one being a really important, funny one. I remember being basically a backup girl. The alternate.”
They also recalled the gross part of the job. “I remember all standing in line to get our lashes put on, like, in a row,” Meghan said.
“I do remember coming off stage one day, and they held, like, a Ziploc bag open, and we all took our eyelashes off and just put them in there,” Chrissy agreed. “And I’m like, ‘Are these for tomorrow?’” Teigen remembered. “And we’d all just close our eyes. What a time, though!”
“I was just so happy to have health insurance,” Meghan responded, giggling.
